Okay you 62 to 65 guys. Getting my 63 back to NHRA race form. Front bench seat real bad. No back seat due to cage. Checked to see about getting it upholstered but the $1200 price tag makes me think of getting some bucket seats instead. Any of you replaced your bench seat with bucket seats? Want to get ideas as to what may work and a source. ebay/amazon? Maybe no cost savings but maybe there is.
 
Does anyone make the seat covers for it? Benches are the easiest seats to reupholster. The covers should only be about $400.
 
Are you looking for NOS buckets? Or just any bucket seat in general? I've got Procar low back bucket seats in my 68 Road Runner and they are amazing. Look stock as well.

For about $160ish Jegs or Summit has the high back,adjustable with slots for the race harness. I'd give you a part number but they have about 6 different styles. I bought the cheap plastic $36 ones for my 63.Not bad but tough to get in and out.
 
The factory bucket seat cars used in board re-inforcement plates installed at the factory.
I put buckets in my 65 Coronet and used them from a parts car.

If you decide on getting a Procar seat, let me know and I can show you how I went about mounting them. Procar's seat brackets are known to have issues with the B-bodies...nevertheless, the seats themselves are fantastic.
 
I recall a post here a while back that talked about after market jeep seats that looked like the a100 van seats.

Just for shitz an grinz; have you considered seats from the bone yard? You can get some really nice ones fairly cheap. Remember, newer cars get smashed up too. I've seen some plush, reclining ones in very nice shape for around $25 each. In matching sets too! I don't know if weight is a consideration for you or not. If it is, check out seats from a smaller car, like a Neon or something. Good luck with your quest! Whatever you decide, may your "hiney be happy! LOL":D
 
I too, used the plastic race seat with a cover in my 62. I used something like jegs 555-70225 to mount the drivers side. Its just four pieces of angle aluminum with holes that give angle and height adjustment. I did have to make a pedestal for the right rear corner of the seat because of the floor shape, and the plastic seats have to be anchored to the rollbar if you have one.
When i decided to put in a passenger seat, i just got another plastic bucket, and welded up a bracket out of thin wall 1" tube and 1/4" plate scrap. I think it may be lighter than the alum angle, but i wouldn't want to be sitting in it in a crash.
If i were to do it over, i might just find a way to mount some honda or toyota seats, dpending on weight penalty vs comfort.

The harnesses are Jim Deist four-point racing belts from the 80s. They're bolted directly to the floor. Look and feel great!
 
Hey if any of you guys wanna sell your original 1962/63 bucket seats I'd be interested in them .
I've been after a set for my 62 for some time now.
