I know asking when asking for opinions, that's what I'll get....so, let me have 'em. I have a yellow (think of a new corvette/camaro yellow) 69 Satellite convertible with a Roadrunner/GTX style hood with the flat black painted stripes on it. It also has the flat black lower section of the car painted similar to a GTX. It's a nice looking car. I'm going to upgrade to disc brakes and need to move away from my current 14" wheels. I have always liked the look of a black wheel on these cars and found a style I like the look of, the Ridler 650. They come in a flat black version with chrome along the outer section, which I think would match the flat black and chrome of the car really well. I am unsure of going up to 18" vs 17". What are your thoughts? If you know of another style wheel similar to these, let me know as well. If anyone has tried these, photos would be great. Thank you.

Here are the wheels in question...

I like the gun metal.. Purty Kind of hard to picture either style on a roadrunner.

Yes, very close. My car has more black on it between the hood stripes, lower body sides, and convertible top.

If you want my opinion which is worthless, NOPE on the wheels. There are better options out there. I cant hang with that chrome lip. Looks out of place.

I can see that about the chrome ring. What are the better options that are similar, keeping in mind I like the black look somewhat like these?

My honest opinion is if you aren't going to lower it don't go with a very big rim, 17" might be alright? I have 18"s and 19"s on mine that look a lot like the ones your looking at (US MAG Ramblers), looks awesome (to me) but I lowered it 2" before it looked right. Post #5 is what I'm talking about, just doesn't look right sitting that high on larger rims. As for color I just don't like the black, yes they can look good but they disappear without proper lighting and end up just looking like a shadowed hole but that's just me.

Don't let anybody else shape your decision, the best advice I can give you is look at a lot of cars with different ride heights and rim sizes so you have a clear goal then go for it. Me personally, I love those rims... they look like mine and if I had it to do over I'd buy them again.

Here are some modern larger magnum 500's if you just gotta have bigger wheels.

Here's mine, 19's in the rear, 18's up front lowered 2" and like I said very similar to the ones your looking at only gun metal grey. Rear tires are getting replaced with 305/35/19s very soon for a bit more width and sidewall.

In comparison to the larger version of the Magnum 500 and yours, I prefer yours easily. That is exactly the look I am going for. Stance and everything. I'm just not sure about gunmetal on my car. Looks great on yours.

I just found a photo of the “hammer” 69 RR from Fast and Furious. Its wheels are very similar to the black Ridler ones from 10’ away.

What do you prefer?
Ok. You asked. I pretty much don't like ANY of these modern oversize ugly f#$king wheels. They look so out of place, it bastardizes the cool look of the classic cars. I get the urge to barf when I see a nice car pimped out.

So you’re saying you don’t like them? ;)
