I am curious if anyone tried using Shiftworks Tachs in their dash where the clock goes? My need for a tach and a lack of a decent place for it coupled with an empty freaken clock slot is screaming put it there. Just curious how it would work and look there....

Those look great but they are sort of small. I'm guessing that you have a "sweep" dash? The standard cluster and not the rally version with all round gauges?

If you had a Rally dash frame, these clusters are not hard to find.

It would look just like this in a standard dash. WOW the cluster in this picture sold for $2195.00 on ebay.

Lol who would pay that much geeeze. I know that gauge is small but I think it would fit. Its auto so all I really want it for is idle and cold start throttle control.

Well i guess they changed the tach for 70? Or is that some kind of aftermarket? Never mind I didnt think they changed it.

here's the one I bought from classic looks like original, fits right in, supposed to work with msd too, haven't used it yet, the face was a little shinier than the rest so I masked the numbers off and sprayed a clear matte over it and it matches good.

Hey rebel can you post back here on if it’s compatible with MSD Ignition? What MSD ignition? Also any assembly picts would be great. I have taken the cluster out several times but never disassembled the lens etc. This looks like possibly a good way to go for me.

the info in this link that beepbeeprr posted, several companies sell them when you start looking, I do have a pic at home somewhere of it in the dash but looks just like the cluster above from ebay. don't have to take the lens off, it just screws in from the back of the cluster in place of whatever is there now, either a clock, or filler plate, or police cars had an oil pressure gage option for that spot. The harness has to be ordered separate, shown on the charger specialties site.

Just get a 71-71 b-body rallye cluster that has the tach option already.

Look to spend 250-350 (shop around on ebay). I had to piece together a rallye cluster with tach on mine. Sadly so many got cut up for aftermarket radios. If you find one with a clock option the tach replaces the clock. Same housing/bezel.

Will that fit?
Just made this for you.

Awesome that you did this for me man! Really appreciate that you took the time to do this!!

No problem,, Just pop this tach in and wire it up with the harness. It can be done with the cluster in the dash but you have to work for the Cirque du Soleil. Or just be really really drunk and limber.

If the man had a 71-74 car, that would be great. His car is a 1970 model though.

 That's the first thing I always think when someone says "oh yeah, you can do it with the dash still in the car."
Some people must be a)double-jointed, b)contortionists and c)skinny as a rail.
