So where does your idle sit at?

I am just below you on idle but feel I need to boost it up 100RPM to where. Yours is at to maintain decent idle in gear. Seeing your numbers makes me feel better bumping it up. So you have your dizzy locked at 36 degrees....does that mean you are running at 36 everywhere no curve or does it mean your mechanical advance is maxed out at 36? I guess what I am asking is what does locked out mean??

Its locked at 36°, so 36° all the time.
I feel better when it idles at 1200, so i know that the oil splash is working , since in these engines a lot is lubrificated only with oil splash.
when i have to stop, i put it in neutral all the time.

I also shift into neutral when I stop. My cam is too much for an automatic!

36 degrees off the line and starting should be pretty snappy huh. You have aluminum heads?

What do you mean looser converter. I believe mine is a 2500 stall.

Yes, Indy Little EZ 295 heads . they have the Max Wedge intake runners

About 900 in neutral & 650 in drive with my foot on the brake.

440 6 pack with a 727.

Thanks. Do You have a pretty calm cam in there? Thats an ideal idle!

On my 62 Plymouth, 318 poly, 600 cfm Edelbrock , solid lifter cam, bumper than stock, It will smoothly idle at 650 rpms, probably 750 RPM in neutral. 727 auto.

1050 RPM in neutral
2x 750cfm Carters
248/258 @.050 112L/C
24* base, 36* total @ 3000rpm, 10* vac can
32* at idle w/ vac

OK it'll drop quite a bit in park.....you had me worried haha. I was like wtf man I am way off, but we are real close then because I have a stick. Bet you drop to 9-10 in park which is right where i am at. We have similar camshafts as well.

I just checked after driving the X home from work. In gear, idle is 12. Not a big drop.

900 in neutral/park

650/700 in drive

383/432 Stroker

16 initial - 18 mechanical = 34 total timing

12" vacuum - Carter AVS 750 cfm carb rejetted with edelbrock rods/springs/jets - No choke

25 psi oil pressure idle - 75 psi oil pressure cruise/highway

10.5 - 1 compression - Edelbrock E Street 75 cc heads

Comp Cams XE275 HL

Still debating headers or not , street driven only
Possible change to the new Edelbrock 800 AVS2 , but this motor starts, runs , drives awesome

Stick. Under 700. Want to hear the rumpity rump. When uncapping, I flip on the ac to pull it down a smidgeon. Perfect.
I lied, and here is proof. Faulty memory. Do plan to bump it down. The 9:5.1 allows me to walk off idle or roll on as low as 1000 with ease and no knock or buck.
