Where to mount non-console cassette pod?

So, apparently there are not any dimples for the screws that hold these to the floor.

I see dimples for a slap-stick bracket, but if I try to use those, the pod is WAY over to the pass side and not level.

The carpet I was installing at the same time had been cut for a shifter, so I ended up mounting the pod so it would cover most of the hole. It also put it in a decent position for my arm and the radio controls.

I'd just like to know where they're supposed to go from the factory.

YY-Mine was mounted in the center of the hump with sheet metal screws. I have my carpet in and was just going to re-install as mine was prior.
 
How about front to back?

Mine ended up nearly up against the flat spot.

At one time I thought about putting it on the flat spot.
 
The forward portion will more than likely end up on that portion. Its almost even with the dash. Hard to tell with the carpet in the car
