Ok, first post beyond introduction. Been lurking and drooling. Some amazing cars here. Looking at a 64 Polara that is missing some trim, specifically the leading edge of the hood and the deck lid emblems. It is also missing door locks. Are these types of things terribly hard to come by? Are they the same on 2 door and 4 door cars? Also it has a 2.90 something open dif. What year cars would have a Sure Grip that would fit in it?
I am pretty certain that if it is not sold by this time next week, it will be mine. I'm 63 and I feel like a 6 year old waiting for Santa Claus....

OBTW, Planning on a set of Torq Thrust D's....Just how much tire can you fit in the stock wheel wells on these things? ;^)

Welcome Bernie some trim parts are hard to find but that's half the fun. Kramer's is a good starting point. One of the other 64's runs 295/50 15's on his rear go to to the hub caps and tires on here and you will see some great tire combo's. Love the 64's good luck

The trim shouldn't be too hard to find. There's people parting them out or have them to sell. Same with the door locks.

The 8 3/4 rear center sections are interchangeable. Used ones start at $500 on up. The '64 has the taypered axels (big nut to hold the drum on) but can be delt with or changed to newer drums with some modifying. Also Dr. Diff has the newer flanged axels but you have to use the newer backing plates. Not a big deal. Or you can replace the whole housing with a '65 or newer.

The big thing with the '64 is cowling rust. They can rust through under the dash and or through the firewall. Check this area and underneath for floor condition, frame ect.

I had H 50s under the back of a '64 that I owned, IIRC they were 11" wide.

Good luck with this one. One of my favorites!

You know if you buy the 64 pics are needed right away. What model is it 500, polara, 440 or 330.

It's a Polara. I looked at Plymouth and Dodge 64-65's a long time and I like the Polara best. The side trim is the dogs bollocks IMHO.

I will be posting pics the minute the deal is done.

I'm bias to them also they're great looking with all the trim

I have 275 60r15s on my 64. It is a tight squeeze with 4.5" backspace, too tight really, even with a slightly narrower 1970 axle. Using 5" backspace would easily fit and have better clearance.

The front edge of trim for the hood is common across all the 1964 Dodge B-bodies...

The Deck lid emblems - which ones specifically? The "DODGE" letters or the long strips on the decklid (Polara 500 model only I believe?)

The trim is not THAT difficult to find for these cars - I've been keeping my eyes peeled for some here and there for my 64 - Its actually missing the same hood trim yours is - also the "DODGE" letters front and back.

Thanks! This is the kind of stuff I need to know.

The car has the long strips, needs the DODGE letters and the triangle piece around the keyhole.
