I recently purchased a 74 Road Runner. I have several other 73's but this one got my attention. I was putting new rear speakers in it over the weekend and was shocked when I discovered the driver's rear was 6x8 while the other was a typical 6x9. Shame on me for not looking but after owning 73's since 73, and either adding or replacing rear speakers on countless occasions, I guess I just expected the same. Also, if anyone goes with the $600 restoration radio, contrary to what they say, you will need to use your controls off of your existing radio or make modifications. One has a straight shaft on the control knobs and the other is tapered. Minor thing and the radio is awesome. Now, I'm going to have the AM/FM Stereo I took out of it and have it upgraded then install it in one of the 73's. I currently have underdash players in them.

I believe that the 6x8 opening is for the rear window defogger fan.

I'm pretty sure that the factory only used one rear speaker.

I’m keeping the old stock radio for display but not having it functioning, I’m using this device and running it to a amp and not having a traditional head unit and using a tablet as a stereo, you can get almost any station off Iheart radio, or just use digital music that you download

What all speakers are you putting in your? Are you putting any in the kick panels or the door panels?
