Hey Guys, Can I hook up the + to the electric choke to the + of the coil, would that work?

No, needs full +12v. connect to the ignition 1 circuit of the engine harness, typically blue wires, opposite side of the ballast resistor from the coil feed.

I've run all kinds of voltage to those chokes. 14+ to 7. only difference was the time it took to heat up the spring. I think you can do anything you want as long as the vent hole in the side of the housing isn't plugged.

Don't hook it to the coil, it'll lower the voltage too much. I think the instructions even say that. As has been said, the full 12 volt side of the ballast is fine.

Which is the 12v side of the ballaster if looking from the front of the car, right or left? What do I do just splice into the blue wire? I'm not good with electrical things.

There is no set left or right on a factory configuration, what color wires are connected to your Ballast? Normally dark blue is the ignition 1 side and brown is the coil side. Could always check with a VOM, disconnect one lead, turn the key on, check where the voltage is.

splice into the blue wire going to the alternator.

Dark Blue and brown...

I hooked into the 12v side of the ballast resistor. it'll work on the run side if you get it backwards. no matter the voltage just make sure the little hole at the bottom of the choke housing isn't blocked.
