Just recently picked up a fresh set of belts for my 1971 Roadrunner. When I had bought the car the previous owner restored the interior (including a new headliner) and decided against installing shoulder belts or cutting any holes for the bolts/clips. So I've got to cut holes in the headliner to install them. I can vaguely feel through the headliner where the places are that I need to access but the headliner is pretty tight so I'm not 100% certain if I'm at the right spot.

I've had a difficult time finding pictures of a car without a headliner or really a good picture of a set of belts. I'd really rather not cut my headliner in the wrong place and have to repair it later. Does anyone have any good pictures of where the bolt holes should be for the shoulder belts and/or some interior pictures that might be of use?

Just undo the trim along the window channel and pull the head liner material away. There you’ll find the threaded boss. Make a slit in the material for the bolt. Run the bolt through the material and into the boss. Then apply glue to the material and tuck it back up. You can take a heat gun to get the wrinkles out.

If you want to wait till tomorrow I can take a pic and also take measurements. I think the measurements will be more useful than pics.

It also helps to probe for any holes with a pin or fine sowing needle.

That will work as long as you are sure theres a threaded boss.

Here's a pic of my 72 RR with the headliner installed. Maybe this might help.
