Just How Stupid Dose One Have To Be To Take On An Armed Police Officer

Tazers are not effective when the subject has a coat on. Plus, on a rapidly escalating situation like this the choice to use deadly force was dictated by the action of the suspect.
ty for that Auggie, that makes perfect sense.
in that case, more power to her.

She did act a little nervous and frightened (not a good attitude to display as a cop), which may have made the suspect bolder. But I am still wondering if he was high on something and could not think straight himself, rather than him being just plain stupid.

You can't train that reaction out of someone, I don't care who you are. I'll admit to having fear in a tight situation, it never gets easier.

Sad situation for that officer, you can see the cam shaking as she's sitting in her car trying to process it all. Hopefully she can find peace quickly.

Could things have happened differently? Sure, maybe. Dude attacked a cop with her weapon drawn.. after having attacked someone previously. I'd bet $50 it's one of: mental health issue, drugs/alcohol or suicide by cop.

We need good cops out there that start every day with the hope that they can help their communities, hopefully she bounces back.

A friend of mine who was a former Special Forces A team leader who went on to the FBI was confronted by a suspect in a parking garage he could have put a round through the perps head. He did not he hit him in the Brachial Plexus which immediately disabled his arm, and shoulder, therefore he could not fire his weapon. My friend rendered first aid, and called an ambulance. Steve had ice water in his veins.

Your friend sounds very skilled and experienced. We are lucky to have people like him protecting us.

Absolutely right! That’s why we train. Stay safe out there.

i do agree that the guy was a moron.
i do agree she was justified in protecting herself...

however..this could have went better.
the first time i watched this vid,i thought to myself...
what happened to the taser?

she had the suspect at taser supposedly and then put the taser away.
she waves the flashlight back and forth Repeatedly and cant seem to focus on the suspect,
which is probably what gives him the stupidity to think he can take her.
the suspect advances on her and she retreats...

she doesnt seem to be able to take charge of the situation.
so the suspect closes and strikes her.
then, instead of deploying the taser, from the Start!!,
she draws her gun and shoots the suspect.
while im not saying the guy didnt deserve it,
im pretty sure she could have gotten the suspect in control with the taser.

i do wish this officer the best and hope she can live with it.
it has become a jungle out there..even in our own backyards.
Good point but I prefer this outcome where he's permanently removed from doing it again and not soaking up our tax dollars.

As parents of a police officer, we are always concerned about these situations and the crap we hear on the news. Personally I try not watching the news. Normally I do not comment on these stories and always hope for the best. Everyone here has a good comment on what this officer should have done or could have done or should not have done. But we all know, including myself, when put in that exact position, how would any of us react regarding the rules of engagement knowing that only seconds matter. There are some things our son tells us and some things he doesn't which is understandable. One incident was a domestic abuse call. Him and his partner come onto the scene and the asshole is on the front lawn beating his wife and mother-in law. The guy was stupid drunk. He saw the police pull up and he ran into the house and got a knife. Our son and his partner went to the back door while 2 other officers went thru the front with a canine. More police were on the way. As our son and his partner came around the corner of the rear of the house, the suspect came running at them with the knife. He ran right thru a screen door and jumped at them. Both our son and partner used their tasers on him and he still kept trying to get at them. As they were going for their guns, the canine came and attacked the suspect. The dog was stabbed but lived and it took 4 officers to get the asshole on his stomach so as to cuff him. The police officer in this video was better off shooting the suspect in my opinion cause she may not have had a chance in a fight. Personally I think the world is better without this POS. Sorry for the long reply(story) guys, hopes it's ok.
:thankyou:for the support all of you show for our officers

I agree. Given the way the situation escalated so quickly I don’t think the officer had another choice that wouldn’t have put her in more danger. These are sad situations when loss of life is the only way to resolve them, but they are sometimes unavoidable.

I’m glad your son is safe and thankful for his service!

Police are not, generally speaking, highly trained ex military folks who can shoot, move and communicate. For the average officer, my wife was one, you do what it takes to stay alive and unbroken. I thought she had the Taser out and he hit her and she dropped it which is what the fumbling flashlight was all about. Or she put it away because she realized the guy as not acting normally. She did the right thing and the only reason she didn't put two in his chest might have been because she was shorter, in full contact and being smacked around and she was on the ground pointing the weapon up at him for #2 shot. It could have gone the other way in a hurry. I personally disapprove of taser use. Many perps are not afraid of them enough to stop them from acting. A drawn gun will get better attention...
