i just installed a BRAND NEW 6 pack on my 72 RR and it ran great at the first start and throughout the day and now the next day it idles at 3000+ and I cannot calm it down.

I'm so pissed I cannot think straight, how does this happen the next day ????????

I'm seriously regretting the 6 pack, I just spent 3 grand on a f'ing 3000 paperweight

Vacuum leak cover the cars one by one and see if the idle goes higher. That or take off linkage and see what it does. Good luck would like to hear what you find out..

Keep in mind, if it’s not wide open, it’s just a 2bbl. Unplug and cap your outboards. Now you are just dealing with the center. If that calms it down, you probably have vacuum opening the outboards. If that is the case, the springs in the outboard vacuum pots is probably too weak. I typically use the silver ones

If the idle doesn’t calm down with the outboards disconnected, verify that the outboards are fully closed, no linkage interference, check for vacuum leaks at the bases and lastly, check the power valve If it has coughed back through the intake, the power valves get damaged and it may be pulling fuel through that circuit.

Verify your timing and that you are using the correct port for your vacuum advance.

Old rule of thumb is that 80% of carb problems are in the ignition.
