I'm buying new wheels for my 70 Satellite, for the rears i'm a bit unsure what tyres to fit

I'm getting 15 x 8 for the rear but they have a 3.75" backspace, ideally I would like 275/60/15 but do you think that size would rub ?

The fronts i'm going with 15 x 7 with 225/70/15 I think, also 3.75" backspace, think that should be ok ?

Many thanks.

you should be good all around. I run a 275/60/15 on my 70 Bee. Your bs is fine also

Backspace on a 15 x 8 wheel , for the rear of that b-body should be 4.5. , anything less will cause the wheel and tire to stick out too far. Especially with a 275-60-15..=

First, you have to learn how to spell "tire"... and, no, I don't want to hear you Brits invented the English language ... :) Even the Doors song is not " Light My Fyre" ... or the group, Dyre Straits.... ( hope I didn't start a quagmyre... oops, quagmire ) Now... What was the question ????

I agree with duster22. I can get a 10 1/2 slick under a 69 rr with a 8 1/2 centerline with 4 7/8 backspace. Move that wheel over an inch closer to the fender? No way it fits. I dont think a 275 will fit on your car, on that wheel, maybe a 255.

This is my current wheels, 18 x 9.5 with 265/40/18's on the rear, not sure on the backspace though, their website lists them as available in 6.75" , 5.75" or 5.25" so i'll have to take one off and check

With the current wheel off any idea what measurements I need to do in the arch to see if they will fit ? So just to clarify I want the 15 x 8 with 275/60/15 tyres and 3.75" backspace, I assume I should just measure from the hub to the wheel arch lip then find out the exact width of the tyre ? Thanks

I took a measurement and there seems to be 6.5" from the hub to the wheel arch lip

The current wheels on the rear are 18 x 9.5 with 5.75" backspace with 265/40/18 tyres

With the current tyre on there is about 1.5" between the edge of the tyre and the wheel arch

You are actually in a pretty good spot, you already have some large wheels on the car that you can calculate from, what will fit.
First, how does what you have now , fit? Centered in the wheelwell? Close to the fender? Close to the spring?
There are at least five places a tire (or tyre, lol) has to fit. The fender arch , the front of the wheelwell cutout, the spring, the outside top of the wheelhouse, and the inside top of the wheel house. The 275s you want to fit are approx 1.75" taller than what you have now, so closer to front edge of wheelwell, and the tops of the wheelhouse.
The wheels you have now are 9.5" wide. That measurement is between the beads, where the tire mounts, meaning outside flange to flange is probably 10". With 5 3/4 bs, that leaves 4 1/4" on the front side. The wheels you want are 8" (8 1/2 outside to outside) with 3 3/4 bs, therefore 4 3/4 to the outside, 1/2 closer to the fender.
Your 265s are around 10 1/2 section width, (measure your own), the 275s you want are close to 12" section, therefore 3/4" wider toward the fender, and the spring.
IF! you have the room for the extra 3/4" extra wheel toward the fender AND the extra 3/4" section width, in other words, 1 1/2" closer to the fender than what you have now, than yes they will fit.
I doubt it.
