I have a 71 Superbee equipped with 383 and a bench seat, original 4 speed car. Am looking for header recommendations. I am looking to go all out and get a TTI or Doug's system. Anyone have any recommendations with either of these two in a 71 Supperbee 4 speed car?Size recommendations, fitment, any cutting or banging needed?
Thx

TTI. Polished, Ceramic. The best. Get your wallet.

TTI, and here is why:

Look around and see how many headers are made for B engines vs. RB. Almost none - they all just list big blocks which means typically RB. That means the fit of most headers on your B engine will be less then ideal.

I have TTI on my 70 Road Runner with a 383. No dents, no fuss, just great fit. That's what you want.

If you think about it, it's one call and done.Yes it's costly.I've installed many,at least 20 sets of complete exhaust systems from TTI. This was the last and were their shorty small block kit for a A body.(See photos)

Resent I was building a budget beater project car. Because of budget I cheaped out and went with Jegs brand.Believe me I got what I paid for. Not bad,but the quality is just not there. IMG_2642.jpg

I have never owned a 383 or 400 engine so I am curious as to how a lower deck height could affect header fitment so much. The ports are the same, just a little lower. Just in theory, I'd think that clearance would be better with a 383/400. Maybe a low deck would result in a little less starter clearance? My 440 & 493 engines have had 3 different sets of headers. Hooker 5209, 5903 and TTI 2". The TTIs do fit better by a mile even with the Fast Ratio steering arms.

With the motor having more or less a V shape, lowering it brings that outer area closer to the steering column. I have tons of room on the passenger side.

TTi In 304 stainless steel and forget it. Get your wallet, first born and your house, very pricey.

So I can't honestly tell you that I have installed tons of headers on various big block Mopars - I haven't. So yes, I would expect that RB headers on a B block would hang down lower beneath the car. In some cases that might give more room, but if a header tube is avoiding stuff below or beside it like steering linkage of the Z-bar clutch linkage, moving the header tube in space could cause problems.

All I know is that my TTIs tuck up nicely under my car and clear everything under the hood beautifully. The just plain worked great for me.

TTI offers several different mufflers to choose from. We use these in 2 1/2''

^^^^ Much better than the one size fits all.

Got my new 2" TTI header for my 500 c.i. rb today , hope they fit and last as good as everyone says . At first glance they look to be very well made.

TTI's are sweet headers, only thing was they trap the standard size starter on my application. No worries because the 92 Dakota starter fits great and is smaller, kinda like a stock mini starter, has the same balls as the larger starter. ( I think I got the right year.. maybe it's 82.) I'm claiming senior moment if I was wrong because that was longer than last week ago...

I have the cheap-o $240 Headman Headers. No issue with installing them, fit great, but the paint went up in smoke and they put off a TON of heat. I'm either getting them coated, wrapped, or both. I just can't justify spending $900 on TTI headers.

I have Patriot ceramic coated with 1 7/8" primaries on my 440 in my 69 b body. I don't have power steering however but these headers fit awesome, have not rusted since installation 3 years ago, and do not leak. The price was around $400.00 shipped at the time of purchase. I would recommend these headers to anyone.
