For a 66 steering column, 4sd car, does anyone make lower steering column bushings , bearing or whatever is at the end of that column. Seems very loose down there, or should it be?

Should not be "loose" but they don't use a high quality bearing down there - although you'd think differently by the price of them.

I don't own a '66. I got the one for my '69 from Mega Parts.

That's not a bad idea.

The original seal/bushing is made to flex with any frame/body movement. Useing a solid bearing might be ok for racing but with every day driving you might notice some noise transfer through the steering column.

The proper way, useing the original one, is to make sure your steering shaft is centered in the "tube". That can be adjusted by the plate on the firewall that the column comes through. If the shaft isn't centered, the lower bushing/seal may not last as long being on a bind.
