SRT8 Roadrunner conversion, NOT a body over!!

How in hell does one just "lose" stuff like that, particularly when there is so much of it? I'm sure it's not like they didn't get paid/charge enough for what they did do they felt they had to sell that to make enough money.
 
Got back to work on this one. Exhaust extended:



This is how the shop installed the bumper, gotta fix that now too. Crooked and missing bolts. Was able to modify a stock hanger from the SRT to work on the RR frame section:






Door latches in and painted. Strikers made and mounted:

One thing to note on the doors. I am using the factory harness from the SRT throughout the entire car. The high line cars use door modules and the switches are low current signals. The door modules cannot drive a conventional window motor without built in Hall effect sensors. After comparing the wiring diagrams between a base and premium car, i was able to use the base door harness and switches so everything works. This eliminates the door modules and the switches become switched power. It did require pinning in the two base wires. For some reason, only the base door harness has puddle lights. I thought it would be a nice touch and cut the bottom of the door to install.

Still debating rear exhaust tip placement. Haven't adjusted bumper yet, so it's still crooked making tips look crooked. Opinions welcome.

Put them in the stock position, keeps it looking stock and maintains that "sleeper" persona!
 
Just my opinion, but I would think they would look good if they were right up to and in line with the bumper. How tight to the bumper can you tuck them?

Oh, and they're crooked.... :lol:
 
Indeed, closer to the bumper. Or remove te reverse lights and use these holes... ;)
 
holy **** .... that is a lot of work .... but i have to ask ..... why cut the floor up on the doner and put it back together ???? you got mad skills tho. .... still .. im gona try the rear cradle swap. seeing how the rear floor fit in the 70 makes me think the cradle should fit inside the frame rails. thanks for posting this
 
Yeah I agree with you, closer to the bumper, but that’s a lot of work! The pan is from the LX, and it’s not as easy as just moving them up!

The floor sections are two piece from the factory. They all use the same rear section, but the front is shorter on Challengers than on Chargers for the different wheelbase. The Roadrunner has the late model Challenger wheelbase, but the donor I was provided was a Charger. Had to trim a few inches off the end to make into a Challenger pan so the wheel base works. Aside from all that, I’m not sure with the way I built it, if it would have fit in as one piece, much less removing it from the donor!
 
Last few things as it's finally heading to upholstery. You think paint and body is tough, wait until you schedule an appointment for upholstery and wait 9 months to get in!

Seats belts installed. Factory LX belts attached to the beam structure on the rocker, and using the B-bodies upper shoulder belt hole. Gotta love that 50 years later, they still use 7/16-20 bolts for these applications. LX bolt threaded right in the old RR.
