I have these 3 items off the old car. I know the top one is the flasher. Not sure what the other two are? Do they go bad?

The second one looks to be 4 way flasher relay but I can't see it's terminals to be 100% certain. The bottom looks like a horn relay, but again I can't see its terminals to be sure.

Oh yea your right I google the square one and it does look similar to the horn relay. Is there two relays for the flashers? I know the bigger round one is for flasher because it has a label on it. Both the round relays have only two terminals.

So I just need to find a time delay relay and that's it? It delays the llghts from coming on after a certain time?

It's for a light to illuminate the ignition switch when its dark outside. It's activated to come on when the car door is opened. Stays on for something like 15 to 30 seconds after the door is closed. Turning on the dome light with the headlight switch will make it light up also. Of course if your car doesn't have the little light and socket in the steering column installed the point is moot. You can add it though. I did on my cars.

looks like that relay on mine connects to the map light and cigarette lighter, not the ignition switch.

mine doesnt have a light on the steering column.

You have there two regular flashers for blinkers ( squared ine for hazzaerds being heavy duty ), then a 74 and lates horn relay ( 3 prongs ) what will work on 71/73s but without being able to get the key in buzzer feature ( used on 4 prongs horn relays )

The boxed on diagram is the time delay flasher for the courtesy ignition switch light. On 71s was used also for the seatbelt warning light, so even you don't get the ign switch light, will drive the seatbelt light.

The time delay flasher is still available new on $7-10 around as a regular replacement, and even NOS on $25-30 maybe still at Mopar dealers since XJ jeeps still used them.

Why does the relay connect to the cig lighter? Isn't that always powered?

Flasher is powered allways on positive side, while activated by the door ground when door is opened.

Sorry lol still confused. The relay im talking about connects to map light and cigarette lighter.

i just want to be sure all i need is a time delay relay.

The time delay relay simply gets it’s power from the same source as the cigar lighter and map light.
The third party wiring diagram you are using does not look correct, this from the '71 FSM

That’s just it, in my experience, third-party diagrams, more often than not, don’t show everything. Don't waste your time with them, stick with the factory published diagrams if you want the correct info.

ok i will thanks, luckily i didnt get to far into the wiring.

totally agreed with 72RoadrunnerGTX... some diagrams on line like those uploaded at MyMopars are good reference for big stuff but if you are picky, can find wrong info on details.

however you are missreading the diagram on THAT specific point. The relay or flasher ( whatever you wanna call it ) is showing being LINKED to the same 12 volts source than map light, glove box light and cigar lighter, but NOT FEEDING those.

then getting deep into the rest of info, the yellow and yellow traced wires arriving to it are totally wrong LOL. They look more like a 70 setup than 71

Yea I see what you mean. The red wire is power source and feeding the relay and the other items.

Another question :)

Im wiring my headlight switch now.

I see unfused power coming from the portion i put the red box

would this be considered the fusible link ?

It seems this wire goes to the ignition switch and buzzer as well.

Should I put a fusible link there?
