After nearly 2 years in the shop as the resurrection of this old race car was taking place. She went out for her first shakedown runs two weeks ago & frankly lived up to her name as she was a handful. Nearly crashed her on a mild easy pass. So two more weeks in the shop & she’s ready to go out again. Just easy runs planed & if all goes well I’ll turn the wick up.

more pics please and glad your happy with the progress, avoid the walls at all cost.

The red 64 Barracuda in the back is another old race car I’m trying to bring back. It has a vintage Hairy Glass front clip.

thanks looks like a monster.
It’s named aptly. During the Resto it was two steps forward & 1 3/4 steps backwards. Car is originally out of eastern Tennessee. It was raced in Georgia, Tenn & NC that I’ve found out so far.

on my car it 1 step forward 2 steps back.

what did it run ?

why was it such a handful to drive ?
(almost crashed on an easy pass)

more details needed
ET/MPH, weight, combos, engine, trans, converter, gearing etc.

what is the final planned outcome, et/mph etc. ?

I completely forgot to check the front shocks while working on the car. They where worn out completely. Front of car started bouncing very bad. I just made drive down passes to check steering (all new from box to steering wheel) & brakes (all new master & rear wheel cylinders & lines). Just wanted to get a feel for all of that before I made a hard pass. Was not worried about times yet. There was a lot of rear end & suspension issues I had to correct. Installed a completely new rear in the car. It’s a long story. Hope to take car out again very soon. I’ve fixed a lot of the issues & lowered the car 1 inch. New slicks on the rear. It should do better.

When I first got the glass bumper. I had to section it to fit. Not as hard as I thought it would be. I’ll dig up the pics of that later. 60 pounds savings

Installed a modern 80’s Ram truck master & used a Mancini Racing adapter & pedal push rod. I had to modify the push rod. That was a lot of mock up & trying different lengths. Before I cut it to fit. It seemed to work ok. Brakes felt good.

Hey Bob, I think we talked a few times in the past. Can you tell me anything about the motor mounts, k frame isolators, and frame ties you used? (Assuming you did) . I would greatly appreciate it. I have one of these mid 70's B's going together. Would love more pics too! Thanks!!!

I’m still running the factory spool mounts. I don’t see any need to change those at this time. I did install Polyurethane K frame , torsions bar support & leaf spring bushings. Not hard to do at all. Can’t say if or how much that helped as I didn’t run the car before.

Not frame tied or any additional support?

Scored these go fast parts yesterday from a fellow racer. Aluminum heads complete with roller rockers, push rods, bolts & a 509 purple bump stick. These parts will find their way on FURYIOUS next year most likely as I’m going to stay with the combo I have for now.
