I have a reverse light that keeps blowing bulbs.
Eye balling the socket and things seem okay.
Put a new bulb in, and first time it gets actuated, it blows?

Suggestions?

Cheap replacement lamp (bulbs grow in the garden)
Massive vibration
Voltage rating of lamp only half that of supplied voltage - ie/ 6 Volt lamp will blow if supplied with 12 Volts

check all the grounds for that light. if the lamp socket is the ground for the lamp then clean and put dielectric grease on the housing to promote the ground . remember the amp draw will increase with a bad ground and over heat the filament of the lamp and make the lamp open i.e blow.

You say the base of the socket is good, check for any defects/corrosion where wires enter socket base and wiring leading to the light for any breaks. Usually a grounding matter as posted; but the wire/connection to the socket base could also be checked if not done, for damaged wire insulation exposing wiring possibly contacting the housing or loose contact. Some cars have the wiring make a sharp bend to insert the housing that can deteriorate. If this is a spring type socket, make sure it moves freely and seats flush with bulb inserted, I had one where the base had cracked replacing the socket guts with a kit from auto store. Likely a ground issue; but just some other possible checks..

Lamps are to be rubbed.....

I know this is basic, but make sure it's the right bulb with only one contact point.
