thinking of upgrading to power Steering anyone swap that center shaft for power steering out ,guy on Craig’s List
Selling power steering shaft ,thought I’d give it a try

On a 68 ? Once you have the column out it's a pretty easy swap. Not much that holds the shaft in place.Snap ring on the upper bearing and lower shaft seal.lube and tap the shaft from the upper bearing. Column or floor shift ? If column be careful of the reverse light switch ,they break easy.

Darter6 makes some good points. I switched to power steering by swapping just the shaft & it wasn't that bad. They KEY thing I'd mention is that the steering shafts collapse very easily since they only have two plastic "shear pins" holding them at the correct length. If you are SURE you have the correct power steering center shaft, then just check to make sure the plastic pins are intact. If not, you can line up the holes, drill/tap them & screw in some plastic bolts from the plumbing section of the hardware store & grind off the excess.

Also, the shafts "look" like there is quite a bit of in/out movement possible, so a shaft that's not exactly the right length "might" be modify-able to the correct length.
