I purchased a 1968 Coronet R/T and it has an 8 track with a strange object below it. Does anyone know what these two discs are what do they do? They do not appear to be speakers as they are flat and solid.

I agree with @BeepBeepRR. Must have been a thing in 68. Here's a picture of what a previous owner did to my 68 R/T.

Damm that sucks...
I agree!!
Right now it's a driver but will be getting attention in the future and I will be looking to replace that panel. Mine was a power window car also and I have been on the lookout to put power windows back in it. I think it's kinda cool to have a matching numbers 68 R/T 440, 4-speed, Dana car with power windows.

Question
I thought all coronet R/T have the rally dash or was only a factory option?

In 68 & 69
Super Bees had a standard Rally Dash.
R/Ts had a Horizontal sweep150mph dash like a GTX. IIRC Rally Dash was optional for the R/T though.

In 70 Rally Dash may have been came standard.

Both of my R/T’s have the sweep 150 speedometer. My 1969 Coronet Super Bee has the rally dash.

Hey, it's how we did it back in the day. Minus the paint job!

Exactly, none of us ever thought these cars would be selling for 100x or more their value when new and in stock condition. The first thing we did to these 10 year old cars was to cut-in a new stereo and add mags and tires. That immediately upped the value, LOL.
