It was shameful. Soldiers do not shape foreign policy. These guys came home to a hostile, and uncaring country.Funny how things changed so much in 25 years. The Vietnam guys caught hell upon returning home.....
I think a lot of people cared but weren't quite willing to stand up to the ones that protested so hard....and didn't realize how hard they protested. It's a lot the same these days but the 'other' side is standing up to them more.It was shameful. Soldiers do not shape foreign policy. These guys came home to a hostile, and uncaring country.
I think people today remember the sins of how people treated the Vietnam Vets.Nobody should ever be treated that way. No matter what feelings you have about any war America is involved in.I think a lot of people cared but weren't quite willing to stand up to the ones that protested so hard....and didn't realize how hard they protested. And it was like so many of us had a damn choice!! I was one of the lucky ones (?) imo that was able to avoid going into the Army and made it into the AF.....I think people today remember the sins of how people treated the Vietnam Vets.Nobody should ever be treated that way.
