We took my son's Duster to his first show today. I haven't shown in a while and I forgot about the things you hear people say at these things. Open street show, about 250 cars there, anything and everything. Fun day.

Favorite from a 20 something young lady, "Dad, why does it have 3 pedals?" Dad gave us a look that was priceless. I had to elbow my 17 year old son to keep him from laughing out loud.

Second favorite, young mother to a 5 year old boy who reached for the car to touch it and grabbed his hands and said to him, "Do you see these people sitting in chairs behind the cars? They are the people who own them. The reason they are so shiny and pretty is that they put alot of work into them". Great mom.

Least favorite, "Hey look, a Caprice!"

I'm sure you guys have a ton of them to share.

lol.....I was typing that above as you posted.....I thought I was the only one.....
 
My personal favorite:
"My (landlord, boss, father in law, etc) has one of these".
Then my ears perk like my dog's when he hears a crinkly bag.

In the late 90's, the Meter Reader, who knew about my fixation with Mopars, told me about a car he in the neighborhood. I went straight to the location of that Hemi Super Bee. The lady's son had died in Vietnam and the car was under a cover behind a garage door that was never opened.
"Yes, I will sell it, she said, ...$32,000"

Now there's a spin on an old tale.
I always heard it as, "Well, it's just an old Dodge, I'll take $500", then the buyer gives her $2,000 out of the goodness of his heart.
 
My Trail Duster gets called a bronco, and scout on a regular basis. And the ever famous “I saw one like this on mecum the other night sold for $120,000” the amount always changes but always way more than I’d ever get for it haha.
 
Well I have a standard response to all the comments "oh yeah, do tell".
 
Or my favorite in response to someone who has something negative to say, "What classic do you own?"
I have never, ever received a response to that one.
 
I always get "What is it?' and "Is it fast?"

In 1999 went to the wing meet at talladega. Some guy asked me how I got the corvette front end on my car lol. Another one was a young space waste asked me if it had a 350 in it. My son just shook his head.
 
Another one from today, from a guy who was leading an entourage of 5 people who none of which obviously didn't have a clue, said while pointing at the Duster, "Yea, my cousin had one of these with a 350 big block". My son gave me a memorable look.

Conclusive proof of the failure of our educational system! They cant tell a gtX, from a gtO. How will they ever learn to play tic-tac-toe?!

I had some one ask me if my 70 Charger R/T SE was a Ford! I said swearing at me like that could get you a black eye!
 
I always get the guys come up and tell me, (i had one just like that, but mine had the 440 Hemi,and was a different color ) always a totally different car with some combination that never existed.
