75% of the world's tornadoes are in the USA

& most all of them are in Tornado alley
worst area
No. East Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, seem to be hit all the time
Arkansas, Nebraska, Mo., even Co. get them

lesser so in La., Miss.,
Tenn., has gotten' a few bad ones
even going south out towards NW Alabama & Georgia too
& some farther north in the Midwest, Ill., Iowa, So. Dakota to Ohio

I use to have a bunch of family, in military bases or farm/ranch lands
living in them areas, my nephew (Kansas) lost almost everything twice
same damn house, he was at Mc Connell AFB, living in Wichita suburbs

my nephews 1st wife, her family lived in No. Oklahoma (Derby, IIRC)
lost everything twice, in 2 different addresses

one of my younger sisters lost everything 1 time (Joplin Mo. area outskirts)

On of my Bros in law & older sister, had their roof torn off (Texas)

I live in North Carolina and we had 3 tornadoes tear down my street last year. I got lucky and only lost a 100 year old Oak tree and some roof damage. Quite a few of my neighbors lost everything.

In NC!? Wow, people don't think of that area when you say tornado. Everyone thinks Oklahoma/Midwest.

Yep, we had 10 small ones confirmed that touched down in NC just last month.

You might have thought that Delaware would have been "red", with all that hot air

Spent a lot of time in my parents basement back then while that was going on. Had one twister take the old style tv antenna and bend it in half. 8 year's old back then, remember xenia ohio devastated then.

Where do you hide when your on the road?? Hear of trucks getting blown over:eek:

We had two in less than ten minutes during Hurricane Katrina (or the same one coming back again) that ultimately ripped most of the 1800's roof tin off -- 40+ lbs each -- one piece at a time. Nine inches of rain fell over the next day ... by the time the AIG adjuster arrived 96 DAYS LATER, Billy's Civil War era home more resembled a science experiment than a house. It's been nearly fourteen years since and they still haven't fully paid off on the policy.

Flash forward to the storm season of 2011 that produced hundreds of tornadoes across several states, including the devastation in Joplin. I was still in the shop at 12:30 a.m. trying to finish up some parts for @65dartman Don when that familiar 'train whistle' sound got my attention. Within a few seconds the power went out, and then WHAMMMMMM -- the shop shuddered violently and almost knocked me off my feet.

The only place to be was under the big center roof beam so that's where I rode it out. The next morning revealed the source of the noise ...

The southwest wall of the shop was gone along with a quarter of the west wall. It took five months to clean it up and get the Powder **** flowing again. The experience and aftermath got its own FABO thread (lots of pictures!) at https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopa...swear-mother-nature-has-it-out-for-me.140886/

Maybe I'm selfish but I sure wish Mother Nature would aim her wrath somewhere else. I've had enough.

I have been fortunate so far that I haven't encountered a tornado directly while on the road. I have been in extreme wind conditions where blow over occurs. I once had a wind gust push me across 3 lanes of traffic...SCARY!!! Running lowboy and flatbed, we don't face the risks like a van trailer, but scary none-the-less. When those high winds arise, I seek safe haven and park.

Wow. Just wow.

Be nice to aim storm at specific Washington elites now wouldn't it. Send them off earlier to the place some of them so truly deserve.

I'm in Ontario Canada and this happened yesterday about 2 miles from my place. Just an F1 but last year we had a couple of F3s.
