Hello, I’m helping my Dad sort out a few things on our 1968 Road Runner. Does anyone know where the best place to find that black center A/C vent delete plate/bezel below the radio? I’ll try to attach a picture of what I’m talking about. Please PM me some suggestions. I figure someone on here has some bits and pieces of a dash laying around. Thanks in advance.

Is that a metal plate? Does the car have factory air conditioning ?

That is a factory plate and there is only one screw in it, the other screw is on the switch bezel side. I have a 68 Coronet with the same exact plate in it...

I am shocked at the responses as I have seen plenty of cars with them in it at least 68's...

Interesting.. did the factory have excess A/C dashes to demand in '68 and needed to use them up?

I couldn't tell you. This is an 68 4 door Coronet with the early slide ashtray and my 68 Coronet 500 convertible is the same as this one...

This is for an original 1968 Road Runner HT. My parents are the original owners. The reason I want a new plate is because there’s an old non-functioning aftermarket gauge in there and the plate is cracked so I would like to put it back to original.

From what I’ve read in these forums, 1968’s came this way. In 1969, they used the same lower dash as 1968 if they had A/C. Non-A/C 1969 RRs came with a different lower dash pad.

Also this plate is not unique to Road Runners. It should be in some other 1968 B-Bodies as well.

If anyone finds one in their pile of extra dash parts please let me know. Thanks.

I will check through my inventory of dash boards in the next couple days

In 68 all pads had the A/C center vent area open and had a blank off plate on non A/C cars. In 69 they had non A/C pads with no center vent opening.

I have that same plate in my non ac 68 GTX. You might check with Tony's parts. There also a guy parting out several 68 sattys on here in the last few weeks including currently. They must have those plates as well. You could also check with @challengersteve - he might be able to locate one for you. I didnt think they were that rare. Doubt if theyre repopped though.
