So.....I successfully rebuilt the 3 speed wiper motor so my park switch now works. However, when I put it back in, the shaft will not line up with the "D" on the linkage. It looks like the motor always parks in the 9 o'clock position when looking at it from the rear (cowl area) and the "D" is always level. My linkage needs to be slightly at an angle when in the park position. I made sure and lined up the timing mark the same way it came out.

Is it possible that I put the plastic gear in the wrong position to start?

I'm leaning towards a gear being installed wrong but its been a long time since I've had one apart.

Pull the wiper arms off their shafts, put the bell crank on, park the motor, then re-align the wiper arms to their park position after the motor has parked. The motor park location should have bell crank in close to straight alignment with the link.
The gear plays no role in the shaft park orientation. Check the part number of the bell crank, should be 3431635 on that car.

Did you do a bench test first?
I bench tested and everything worked fine....but there was no way to tell if it would line up with the linkage. Does anyone have a pic of the cowl side? I knew I should have taken one.

Does anyone have a picture of the other side of the motor? I want to see which way the arm that attaches to the shaft is pointing in the park position.

I finally got it all working, thanks for all the help. There is a bit of a clunk on the driver side, but, I think the bushings may be worn out on that side.

Be sure you have the links connected to the correct studs on the driver's side pivot otherwise it will bind up and make noises. Motor link goes on top, cross link goes under the drivers's pivot crank.
This one is an E-body brass bushing style but the link orientation is the same as B-body;

Hello..... I just finished taking my 67 coronet wiper apart for general maintenance and want to know if I am a tooth off one way or the other does it make a difference in its operation?

A picture of before and now is.

Thanks in advance....

The motor park position on a three-speed motor has nothing to do with the drive gear teeth. Only the clocking of the park switch plate/cover as pictured above. Check the FSM for the correct notch indexing for your application.

Sorry but what is FSM please?

The photo of the motor that I posted is the way it came from the factory before it was dissembled.

I replaced the cracked gear and re greased the worm gear and plastic gear.

Can the park position be a tooth off one way or another or will it bind up?

I found no markings that would indicate some sort of a alignment.

When I say tooth I mean in park position I may be off one way or the other way from exact park.

There are no dots to align up......... like on a cam gear and crank shaft gear.
