Is your wiring home made. Or is it a kit. Is it stock for 50years ago or just a race set up. Curious mind needs to know. Thanks

Bearman, my firewall plugs are original. Any wires that were getting shabby were cut and new soldered near or at the plug as req'd. Clean yours up real good and inspect. You'll know what needs to be done.

Some of mine is new, some is original. If they were soft and pliable and no signs of corrosion especially at the connectors, I used them.

If they were brittle, cracked, corroded, I replaced. You can buy any size and color wire from NAPA. They have a lot of connectors like what was used originally also. Special connectors can be bought also.

All original here......Inspected and re wrapped....

Mine is a universal kit from American Autowire, it allowed flexibility for rerouting most wires out of sight. I'm no fan of the factory wiring:eek:

Thanks guys for the input. Mine is pretty much trashed. Will get the diagram and work it out from there. The big issue is the wiring for the dizzy with msd hook up. Back half of the car is ok. Have to figure out why there is extra grounds at tail lights from previous owner. Engine bay to ign switch the worst. Again thanks for the info. Power probe here we come.

Maybe just covering his bases? Never too many grounds!

Oldbee, you're probably right but the job looks really bad. And engine bay not much better. After removing dash and was looking at some of that I see why someone had problems. But then we all have different strong points. Electric wasn't his for sure. But with a diagram should be able to handle it.

Kid that's just nice and clean.

I replaced the engine and headlight harness last year after my fusible link went at a gas station after a cruise. Bill & Rose Evans sells nice reproductions. Just watch the terminal alignment at the bulkhead.

Never fear original wiring. If the harness is uncut. Unwrap it and inspect each wire and connection. Then clean up everything.

Bought a new engine harness but wasn't happy with the quality of the terminations, so I re-crimped everything. Once I added a new higher capacity alternator, electric fan, pertronix ignition and newer style voltage regulator, I stripped the harness sheathing and rewired most of it. Should have just made my own harness in the first place, but it was a gradual thing and the original harness was cracking and had a melted wire to the horn relay. The rest of the wiring is original and in good shape, but I plan to rewire the dash harness once I decide on a suitable upgrade for the cluster gauges.

All new Ron Francis set up with independent harness for a digital dash I built. Will be wiring all up including a Holley Sniper..stem to stern and REALLY trying to make a trip around the block this year. Good luck with yours Bearman.

Barry ... I have a wiring diagram for my 64 is you need to borrow it. I also have the service manual too.

I have done my own on the cars of the early 60's.Only 5 or 6 circuits makes it easy.I see you may have or want more.

Thanks that will come in handy thank you. How's your project coming. Haven't heard from you in a while.

Remember where we left it the last time you were up there? It's still in the exact same place. I really need to retire so I can focus on the car.

Can I retire also that would be great but life gets in the way with me. But when you get ready and need help let me know and I'll be there.
