What automotive trend are we in now?

It's kind of funny. For the first time in my life I came buy what I want and I find myself not wanting to pull the trigger on anything. I drive a 2012 Chrysler 200 with a 3.6 that's so much fun to drive, I hate to get rid of it, it has 27,000 miles on it. My other car is a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 46,000 miles on it. I use to have 3 cars and one truck and roll between them to keep the mileage down on any given one. Down to 2 and my 65 and I'm happy!! When I move I'll get down to one, Lord knows what, but it won't plug in no damn wall socket, maybe a 392, nothing but Chrysler though. They took care of me and I take care of them. Mopar or no car........

I went straight for the Hellcat!

I saw a pristine 2000 Sebring convertible the other day (which we had at one time), and thought to myself.... man that was a fun car to have even tho it wasn't a speed demon.

Nice car!! Like all Chryslers it's a love or hate them, I'm with you!!

we are in the 62-65 mopar trend. everything from stock to race. street to show and any combo you can think of. then again i'm bias

new muscle cars, and left lane freight trains, mopar inspired the new muscle car era, the hellcat leading the way in the beginning, 2015. most car companies came up with more horsepower across the board since, waiting for the government or gas prices to slow it down.

Remember when the government told us what was safe ? Seat belts, 5 mph bumpers, air bags, etc.
Now 1100 horsepower let loose right off the dealers lot. Remember Sammy's I can't drive 55 !!

Moparfiend has a point. I live in a small town of + or - 15,000. The city went out and bought 12 electric Nissans. They also installed a solar powered charging parking lot with free charging stations.Anybody can use them. Also a casino about 4 miles out of town has done the same.It may be coming, but I'll still drive my 12 year old PT Cruiser till they pry my cold dead hands off the steering wheel !! Had to throw that in just for fun.

Trucks seem to be very popular. Look at the prices on shortbed c10s. I always thought a chevy truck was a common vehicle, people are wanting 2nd gen charger money for them.

I'm starting the "Walmart beater" trend where the $50 dollar Subaru owners are actually afraid of door dings from MY car.....

White, silver, black, & gray vehicles. These are "safe" colors so that they can more easily sell the lease return vehicles.

Those big rigs make that much power ?

'60's & '70's muscle car waning trend unfortunately. I know we all still love them, but I think they are becoming the new Model "A"s sometimes, with only the most rare increasing highly in value..... my 2 cents. Modern muscle is rising certainly better than it has in a long time tho.

Lefty pretty well hits the nail JMHO, I have watched the fat fender street rods go from top of the heap down to { please buy my car }
The guys that were building rods in the 50s/60s have or are aged out, many leaving car collections for their wife or kids to deal with.
Now here we sit, grew up in the 60s and 70s, muscle cars are our thing or well most of us anyhow. We are having our run now but there is a end and that's ok its just the way things go.

If a guy has any cash burning a hole in the pocket, start grabbing 80s Irocs , 5.0 stangs, 80s malibus and the like, Not my favorites for sure but they will be the next big wave in the old car market. The guys that grew up with those are just now getting the kids out of college and the house paid off.

I want to know what happened to hydrogen vehicles?? I remember President Bush in a State of the Union saying within X number of years we'd all be driving hydrogen powered vehicles. I was kind of looking forward to filling up my DD from the hose in my backyard and driving 300 miles....lol Doesn't look like thats going to happen. I hate electric power - although one of my DD is a Lexus SUV Hybrid. I didn't really think thru the battery issue until after I'd owned it for a bit - besides the wife is the one that insisted on it. Happy wife - Happy life...

The new trend is definitely electric, and will only continue to improve be it hybrids or full electric vehicles. Performance will eventually make gasoline (only) powered vehicles more obsolete. How long will gasoline powered cars still be sold (en masse) is the question. Assisted driving is becoming standard on lots of new cars, manual is only for the performance oriented few, and even that's dwindling.

Nothing against stock cars and I love my RR, but the only real thing I think that will make it stand out and age well is upgrading everything mechanically to make it more "reliable" and headache free.
Increasing performance and handling, period. If at some point I end up driving at a track(s) only later in life I might be ok with that.

If IIRC California has already set time frames for everything - or nearly everything to be E powered. Not far off.
