Well today I took the 69RR out for the real first ride and it rode like crap! lol I have to remember these are 50 year old cars. One thing though the borgeson steering is great! I have no complaints about that, glad I got it. I still have a lot of work to do like suspension to see if I can get it to ride a little better. All in all after all the work I did to get it back on the rode I think I did pretty good!

i am sure thats what i'll be thinking on my charger's maiden voyage, cars have come along ways. were all spoiled with how these new cars are, power windows and ac was a big deal back then

it may be rough but its a classic.

yeah these cars don't ride like Imperials, but that's not what they were made for. Mine's a little stiff riding because of the way we set the springs up, but I like the Day Two look.

PST polygraphite kit, new .96 (or .98) T-bars and good shocks were tops on the list when I big-blocked my '68 Satellite. Made a world of difference. 50-year old suspension components are a no-go, so if you have to rebuild it anyway make it ride how you want, for your driving conditions. Mine rides better than my '04 truck at least...

Your opening post description might as well have been in Spanish for how descriptive it was. :bananadance:
"Rides like crap."

What is that supposed to mean? It rides too harsh, it rides too soft, it wanders all over the road ? What?
Is this the first worn out car that you have driven in the last several years? Do you have back issues that make you over-sensitive?
What are the specs? Torsion bars, leaf springs, sway bars, shocks, bushings, alignment....
I have driven literally hundreds of cars in my lifetime and the absolute WORST were slammed mini trucks lowered down and resting on the bumpstops. I doubt the Road Runner felt that bad. In stock form, they ride too soft for my liking. My '70 Charger rides about as firm as my Wife's 2015 Challenger R/T. Firm, but not harsh. Improved shock design really helps these old cars. If you have KYBs, get a set of Bilsteins. If you can't afford them, eat Top Ramen for a few weeks and get them. They are THAT good.

Yep, 50 year old cars tend to have lots of problems depending on how thrashed the suspension and chassis is. A perfectly restored 60's B body won't handle as well as a new Honda Accord but if you make the right mods to a Mopar you can get them to be halfway decent. Bigger torsion bars, good disc brakes, really good shocks, good radial tires and an anti-sway bar will help out a bunch. I've been working on my '65 Coronet for years and it handles okay. Nothing like a new car but much better than an original '65 B-body. My buddy had a restored GTX and riding in that car was like sitting in a boat. I'd forgotten how soft those cars were set up when new. They can barely go around a corner with the stock torsion bars and no anti-sway bar on them. And the drum brakes are only good for one hard stop then you need to let them rest for a while.

When I was in high school my best friend had a 1970 Road Runner 440+6 car. It had drum brakes, Hemi torsion bars and the HD rear leaf springs and I think it had an anti-sway bar. Back then I thought that car could really handle. If I drove it today I'd probably think it was a death trap.

another reason to drive your car regularly, so you know how to drive it.

It looks great. Even old and not a comfortable ride its yours and its 50 year old technology. Mine rides like a 50 year old car and I like it.

I'm driving it a little more and getting use to it, seems to drive better.
