I'm wondering what the best way to remove the side molding is on my 69 GTX. Appears to be small white clips with larger metal clips at the ends.

I got one off but it basically just fell right off.

That is correct on the clips. If they are original then they are very brittle. As you found out with the one piece that fell off. Are you restoring the car or is the car painted? There are two way to tackle them. From the backside you can remove the case nuts on the metal clips and the plastic ones can be force out from the back. Same can be done if your saving the paint in some areas and other areas tape is your friend and wide plastic putty knife.

Each piece of trim has 1 case nut and the rest is all clips. Remove the nut first and then very carefully put pressure at the point of the plastic clip. Use extreme care not to damage the trim piece. The clips are cheap compared to replacing the trim.

I am stripping the car for restoration right now and is not finish paint at this point.

Thanks for the tips!

Any tips on opening the passenger door? Mechanisms inside are broken. I can access the latch and move it but the site won't budge! I have read here to guy it hard. Thought I got it pretty good but maybe I just need to put the purse down first

Thanks for the reply. I'll give that a go. Trims are all the and straight but rough shape. Regardless I am trying to get everything of with no damage. Would you know if these are stainless or Chrome strips? I assumed Chrome because they seem to be flaking but maybe I need to look again
