OEM front shock tower bushing necessary?

Is the OEM front shock tower bushing with the metal insert necessary, or will the 2-piece bushings that come with replacement shocks do the job?

I don't want to end up wallowing out a shock tower, but I don't feel like ordering reproductions and waiting around for shipping either, so that's why I'm asking. Thanks.

The ones that came with the shocks worked fine for me.
