I have a 70 Sport Sat that has a locking cap on the fuel filler. Is it possible to remove the fuel filler tube with the tank installed in the car.
Key is missing
Absolutely. I have done it a couple of times. Just unbolt the one bolt that attaches the neck to the frame to hold it steady, then gently work it, wobble it, etc and ease it out.
To reinstall a new one, you can just lube it up a bit and slide it back in, if you were really going for it you could replace the seal but seems to me like just adding risk of something going wrong, unless it leaks.
