Summit 727 Aluminum Pan - Too low?

I have trickflow’s version of that pan and haven’t had a problem. Looks to be the exact pan minus the trickflow logo.

Running the one from Mopar on my car without any problems.UNLESS you car is lower than factory height.

Exactly. Is your car at stock ride height ? If not it is not a trans pan problem but a ride height problem. Low clearance oil pan and trans pans are fine for race track usage where there are no dips in the road.

My 74 road Runner was using the Mopar Performance deep pan and I had to be careful around speed bumps. For two reasons. First of all, the car was lowered, so my ground clearance wasn't optimal for stuff like speed bumps. Secondly, the built in drain plug is on the leading edge of the pan, so the first thing to get smacked is the drain plug. I wasn't careful at first and banged up the pan/plug so much that I had to replace it. I replaced it with another of the same pan, but I was much more careful after that.
jus sayin

Never had a problem. Of course I go easy over the bumps anyways.

I have the Summit Racing pan on my '73 Charger. I picked it up for cheap from a guy that had it on a '71 Demon. He said it scraped twice on the driveway (once going, once coming) then he replaced it with a chrome steel pan.

My car is lowered so the clearance of the pan is just 2" from the ground, which makes it the lowest point on the car. I avoid speed bumps, drain covers, and bumps like the plague. Especially the monster ones at Home Depot that I got hung up on the headers last year. That was fun. I've driven lowered car in the past and developed a very simple rule: avoid it if I can; go really slow if I can't.

BTW: TCI makes an aluminum pan (p# 128000 ) with a depth of 2-1/4" instead of 3-1/4" of the Summit Racing pan. Also going with an aluminum made a BIG improvement for me.

thanks for the replies all. i have to moroso in and gained an inch of clearance. i feel better about that.

just curious on the filter extension blocks, are the large holes in them to allow fluid to flow through or just to remove some weight?

i am pretty sure i put filter with extension back on same holes that original filter came off. anyways, there were no other positions where the new filter with block would line up but i don’t think block lines up with a big circle on valve body

thanks,

Yeah that’s for fluid flow. There’s only one way to install it so you’re good.
