Does anybody out there in Mopar land have any knowledge in changing a 67 Coronet from the traditional gas fill to a Charger flip top, locating it approximately near where a 69 Charger would be, on top of the left quarter? I was specifically wondering if a Charger gas tank would fit properly where my Coronet's resides. I thought (always gets me in deep do-do) using a Charger tank and cutting the opening in the correct area in front of the spare tire reservoir would make for easier plumbing as opposed to going over the river and thru the woods to access the opening on the OE Coronet tank. I already have the correct Charger plumbing as well. Any help would be appreciated. Happy Father's Day to all, be safe, be happy-Dan

Doesn't the 67 Coronet tank fit around the spare tire tub ?? There is no tire tub in the Chargers so the tanks are COMPLETELY different.

EDIT:

A custom fill tube would need to be be made that would splice the 66-67 tank fill and vent pieces into the flip top filler piece.

Can it be done? Yes.
Will it take engineering/fab skills/money? Yes.
Would it be a cool thing? Yes

Well I've seen a lot of different models with this mod and considered it for my own '69 RR and my personal opinion is that its suits the Charger and that's it !! But to each his own.

I like certain modifications that make a car stand out. Ones I have seen in the past are:
70 Plymouth Air Grabber on a 68-70 Charger
66-67 Charger Grill in the 66-67 Coronets
66-67 Satellite, GTX interior in 66-67 Coronets
68-69 Coronets with Charger Flip top fuel fillers.
I think its all Mopar and if it makes you happy go for it. The only drawback is dependent on how many others think the same when you are ready to sell.

Thanks to all, my son and I have come to the conclusion as Stanton has-completely different fuel tank. We have the OE fill tube from both the Coronet and The Charger so we will probably need to have a small pipe bent to join them at the appropriate junction. The reason I am doing this is I will only be able to afford one car, unless I hit the lottery (I wake up next to my lottery tix-she doesn't care what I spend on the car) so I am taking ideas from favorite cars to make my car. I have adapted 69 Coronet side scoops, 66 Charger front and rear bucket, with full length console. I am also considering the 'Cuda 'gill' lower rocker molding as well, TBD...Thanks all for you input-Dan

Had my genius buddy do the plumbing from the Charger gas fill directly thru the original location. Looks great, Thanks Doc
