Looking at a ‘72 Satellite need advice

Hi everyone,
I need some advice from my B body buddies!

Here we go:
‘72 Satellite
I attached a pic as I drive-coded the fender tag.
Originally a 318/2bbl car, it now has a mopar 440 crate motor, as they say. and a rebuilt trans a a sure grip rear end.
They bought it thinking it was a RR and overpaid , he’s owned it for 10 years.
the fender tag is intact and is a high option car, center console, rally gauges, bucket seats AC car but it’s been removed and it’s a California car it’s whole life
It’s been repainted the original color of rally red.
I’ve seen pics and videos and it looks great but the interior needs some work like the top of the rear seats are sun damaged, and they say it’s rust free car but I see some small things that need attention.

I Just want to know if it’s worth their asking price of $13,000 USD.
Seems a little high to me as I was thinking more like $11,000 but they say they are firm on the price because he wants to recoup some of his lost money, and I don’t want to be the guy over paying also and giving him back his money, that was his mistake not doing his homework.

It is actually a Satellite Sebring Plus. Buckets and Rallye dash are standard for that model.
7th character is a G for built in St Louis.
Seems like a good car.
 
I de-coded the fender tag and it came out as Newark de the code G26, but that doesn’t matter to me really. In the video they sent me it sounds amazing, and idles nice and smooth

You don’t get a lot for under $15k anymore. If this is something that is presentable and doesn’t need a ton of work to be a reliable summer driver it seems like a good price. I’m sure they have some room to work with you. 10 years ago a 72 Roadrunner wasn’t real expensive especially if it was at the height of the recession.
 
If he owned it 10 years he wasn’t too upset about the price he paid.
I think 11k is the perfect buying price.
But at 13k guess what 10 years of joy for you and if it’s cared for it will be worth more than what you gave for it.
Either way sounds like a good investment to me.
 
The 2nd g in the vin means the car was built in St. Louis. .probably not big issue either way
 
If the body is solid that’s a decent price, the 71-72 B bodies have jumped in price
 
Respectfully for just over 10k in UK sterling I'd RIP his arm off happily pay him the full asking price and pay to ship it to the UK, a rust free 71 or 72 is hard to find imho , this shapes not for everyone but I love them. Again with the greatest of respect to you , if you are having second thoughts and the car is for sale please keep me in mind as my son in law is looking for a 71/72 car in this condition/ price range , he is ready to buy and has the cash waiting .

Offer them $12k in hundred dollar bills in front of him. He can only say no.

I AGREE 100% !!!!

By the lower windshield channel corners (especially the driver's side) and under the wiper motor on the firewall near the rubber flap.
 
remove the screens and carefully look and feel all the way around the "stacks" that keep water channeled around the huge holes that are the vent intakes.

look carefully in the door hinge area and bottom of A pillar for any signs there

bitch area to try to do rust repair in

also look to see if the drains for that area are plugged with leaf/debris

they exit into the dogleg area of the fender

check the lower corners of the rear windshield

water pools and sits in those areas and can lead to rust there and in the trunk pan
 
Thanks for that advice I wouldn’t have thought to even look inside the cowl...I’m trying to wait out the seller and see if they will come down a little they said they really are not flexible on the 13k asking price...I see it needing the seats recovered, new dash pad and looks like the tires need replacing. That a couple of g’s right there probably more. I’m hoping to see it this Sunday

Let me know anything you see...I noticed the fender to cowl braces are missing, not a nig deal but I would like them to be there, thats just me.
Interior, dash pad cracked, upper back seat is gone, looks like it needs 4 new tires.
