I have recently come in possession of a Cummins ISB powered diesel pusher. I already have a 26ft aluminum trailer that I would like to load my car into and tow it with the pusher. Now the issue is the the hitch says max 5000lbs. This past weekend at the track I cruised around the pits and took note that 5 other pushers had full steel enclosed trailers loaded and their pushers also had 5000lbs ratings. Some had distribution and some did not. I appears that the hitch also has a Class V rating which doesn't make sense. Looking for some advice before I tow my hopes and dreams down the road.

Maby you should ask A trailer company that sells and installs tow hitches as opposed to putting it out here to the masses for an opinion. Just my opinion...

Something is not right. Those ratings do not add up to a Class V. On my gasser MH, the hitch is rated at 5000 lbs, 500 max tongue weight. Hitch is hidden and there is an extension that says it is rated for 6000 lbs, with only a 100 lb tongue weight. Are you sure that little box means a class V? You might try irv2 forums for an answer. Also, I'd try getting a better pic.

Never seen a Class V hitch with a 5000 lbs. limit yet. Class V classifications are 12000 lbs. with 1200 lb. tongue weight and 17000 lb. weight distribution with 1700 lb. tongue weight. If your hitch uses a 2" square tube opening receiver it is not Class V. Class V uses a 2-1/2" square receiver tube opening.

I figured that I would post it here because I have always been given good and valuable information from the members of the forum. I agree with the class information on the hitch it just doesn't add up. I will be contacting some local RV shops and trailer shops to see what the real story is.
