To those that WINCE when a 69 Charger gets jumped and wrecked.....

That is definitely at the Carlisle fairgrounds by the pics. Looks like that car had way too much front weight when they jumped it. Talk about a nosedive!

you can replace a 77/78 firebird for 5K or less

what's a driver 69 Charger going for?

yeah they definitely didnt learn from the Duke boys jumps,no ballast in the pontiacs trunk.
however, that car did get some serious air!! and went pretty far as well!!
anyone notice the drivers face/helmet becoming one with the steering wheel?
that hadda hurt ! hope he was okay.

Did I read somewhere that the car used was actually an old crown vic that was modified and reskinned to look like a bandit T/A? I vaguely remember something like that.

It depends on if a real 77-78 T/A or 4 speed or black /gold car etc..
If it was just a dressed up 79-81 base firebird I doubt anyone would really care much.

The only thing I've heard is they removed the Pontiac motor and used a SBC because they thought SBC were faster. I disagree. Maybe cheaper to build though.

These cars only took a slow 35 years to become respectable and collectable in classic car circules..so I guess the answer is no, nobody would really care.

Hahaha I did see that. The one photo shows his head out past the T-tops too! What a horrible car structure wise to jump. That's funny stuff right there.

Most cars used for jumping are junkers at best and painted up to look look for the camera. At least that's what was done in the Duke of Hazard show....so they say.

One man's junk is another man's treasure:D

Those were rust free California and Georgia Chargers back in the late seventies and early eighties. 349 nice Chargers that could have been enjoyed to this day.

Back when those shows were produced, the cars were not exactly commanding high prices....and not many people were complaining about it. It was the later movie remakes that started bringing out the cries for mercy lol. But even those newer shows were using cars that were in pretty bad shape. I understand that there's always something good that's getting torn up though....lots of messed up cars with good parts on them getting wasted for the $$$ sign.

I got some enjoyment watching the show. That's what it was all about at the time, just like what we did when we were kids with cars we'll never see again.
