I have a 67 Belvedere and a 6 year old kid. How are you guys transporting the kids safely? I’d like to be able to take her for ice cream on rare occasions.
Thanks!

Mine are still in my balls. I take whatever car or truck I want!

I let the grandson drive....

I am going to get a booster seat upholstered to match my seats so he can legally ride with me.

You can use a booster seat with a lap belt?
I intend to.
When I was growing up there wasn't even a booster seat involved... and I never remember my parents' cars having 3-point belts in the back. I'm not saying it's the absolute safest way, but all of us survived...

You don’t need a booster with just a lap belt. The purpose of the booster is so the three point shoulder belt hits them in the chest and not in the neck. Only thing a booster would do is help them see out the windows.

My kids are out of all that stuff now but stick them in the back and use the lap belts. Don’t drive like your in a hurry.

If they’re still in a baby seat you can throw the lap belt through that. I think a 6 your all done with that kind of seat.

And, most of all, make sure nobody hits YOU!

You really need the top tether for the booster/child seat as well as the lap belt theough the seat. If you haven't got a parcel shelf you can thread the top tether through the metal panel under the parcel shelf and attach to a bolt in the trunk. I used the hold down mount for the spare wheel and it worked ok.

Put them in, buckles on, and drive like they’re your most prized possessions... because they are!

I put two safety anchor points on the rear parcel shelf in the GTX, with a cheap lookalike package tray made of thin MDF panel. Painted black with speaker cutouts covered in black fabric....no-one ever knew it was wrong. When my boys were smaller, they rode in car seats, then booster seats, then eventually they used the laps with a harness.
My wife hated the factory lap & diagonal in the front. :D
