Replacing RB's rear main

I have a buddy that hates the feel of ATF. I once asked him..."What would be worse...Being neck deep in ATF for an hour or being boned in the *** by 5 men?"
His strange response:
"Can I kill the men afterwards?"
Uhhh, what ?

So for a follow-up...Got the engine back in over the weekend. After running it in the garage to get a baseline tune, and then out for a test drive today I'm relieved to report no more leak, not even a seep. What I did, was be sure to offset the seal ends about 1/4" as described above. I re-used the Mancini retainer, no rubber side seals just filled the slots and lightly smeared the sides and bottom with ultra gray. Used a light amount of ultra black on the backs of the seal halves. Put the pan-side seal on the crankshaft, with the ends offset, and gently wiggled the retainer down onto it to let the seal dictate the resting position of the retainer. Just snugged the retainer bolts, then torqued them the next day. It sat for about a week before I put the pan on and added oil. Hung it ***-down for the better part of a day, turning the crank here and there to be sure. It didn't leak a drop but I knew the real test would be under operating conditions.(With the failed seal, I had an oil puddle after 1 or 2 minutes of having the engine tilted back)..So far it's dry..:bananadance:

On a side note, I'm extremely happy with the steer-n-gear rebuild on my power steering box. Center slop is gone and the slightly firmer feel is just what I wanted. (I did their 'modern' level, which is the next one above stock).
Oh, I used the red fel-pro seal BTW..
