Going through a car with a few friends trying to put a value on it. I did decode the Fender tag. Just not sure what a numbers matching Hemi 68 Charger, auto, red with a white top and black interior with power windows, rear defogger and AM 8track radio is worth. I've been told it may be a 1 of 1 with this paint and option package. Just looking for any info you guy can provide.

I like it if it's a matching numbers Hemi Charger. I cannot tell about rust issues, but it looks like a #3--car right now if these are pictures of the actual car. It will need a restoration to make it into a more correct car. 68-70 Chargers are hot right now. If there are minimum rust issues and it runs and drives okay at present. It's not red, the under structure of the hood looks cut. Paint and body are expensive and if a Hemi needs built, that's major money too. Not that I'm a potential buyer, but from what I'm looking at I wouldn't be a buyer at anything above 75K. That's hoping there's a fair amount of things that don't need major attention. I may get a lot of criticism for this, but a done correct car is 150-170 right now and I lean toward the low side as it's an automatic.

You REALLY need to check the other numbers on transmission, block, radiator support, trunk edge & look for signs of red paint.

it should have a Dana, does it? Should it not be an R/T? Hood is wrong.

4 spd had Dana ,auto was option my bad.

The engine is not currently running. We need to get it up on a lift to check the numbers. The floor under the carpet is red. The trunk has some chips with red underneath it as well. Any special hiding places for the build sheets on these cars? I'm more of an E body guy these days

under seats, above glove box.numbers are on trunk lip and radiator support, side of tranny and I believe around oil pan.Someone here knows.

...and look for the broadcast sheet.

Davek mentioned all the right places to look. I haven't even tried to decode the VIN tag you posted, so double check all the codes. Signs of red paint is a really good sign & obviously you'd look to see if the vinyl top was replaced. And don't quote me on this.... but I don't think it's "required" that a hemi Charger be a R/T (???) I'm no expert on this

Identifying marks

All Dodge Charger VINs begin with an X, followed by a letter than identifies their price class in the line-up (S for Special, P for Premium, and X for Fast Top, like the Charger 500 and the Daytona), and then the number 29 to indicate the two-door hardtop coupe body style. The fifth character refers to the vehicle's engine (J for Hemi, H for four-barrel 383-cu-in V-8, for example). The sixth digit reveals the model year, and the seventh letter designates the plant the Charger was built in. A six-digit serial number rounds out the VIN.

It's worth about 5 grand. Where do I send a check? :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Seriously though, nice car!!!

How did that whole thing work out with Brad Wesley and his crew? Did the insurance pay off on your Mercedes convertible? Are you still working as a bouncer? I mean, that was 30 years ago but .....

you can look in the trunk to see if red is in there not many painters go all the way. look up were the speakers go or towards the back seat or under console

Peter!
That dude got ALL the puss!

Torque boxes prove all...look at the front of the rear spring perches. Real Hemi cars are born with them.

Sorry for the loss of your buddy, Wade Garrett. That dude was cool.
I thought you'd be taller though.
