The blower came off a 671 Detroit diesel, it still had the green paint on it, i converted it to gas use and polished the stock front plate and cover, i also fabricated the idler pulley bracket and polished it.
Cool! They aren't hard to work on, just gonna pay attention to a few details... I've actually set them up for Diesels & Industrial applications allot more than cars.. I have a buddy that runs a blown alcohol roadster in nostalgia drags that I've been through the blower on a few times... He wants max boost so it's clearanced on the tight side but it only runs 1/4 mile at a time.... If you ran one like that on a street car once it got up to temperature theres a good chance the rotors would hit & lock...
My brother has a 41 Willy’s pickup with a blown hemi that he drives on the street, it’s been running for 30 years so far, it’s an ex nitro engine detuned for pump gas, it will change your outlook on life!
If there were ever a classic vehicle to have a blower on thats it.... Awesome!!
I had a buddy building a all steel 41 coupe, poured allot of $$$ into it & finally came to the realization he just couldn't afford to play with a Willys anymore... Darn shame, he'd gotten a lot done & it would have been bitchin' but it also probably still wouldn't be done & he's been hotrodding around in a very nice 55 Chevy for probably fifteen years now & he had enough left over to put a big down payment on his house...
