'64 Belvedere with 318. Want to swap 440. Easy swap for the motor? Use same trans K as the 318? THX
define easy lol. But yeah, you can use the same frame, just get the right mounts from Schmaucher. 64 B bodies have plenty of room. You will need a big block trans, big block shifter cables. oh and a bigger radiator'64 Belvedere with 318. Want to swap 440. Easy swap for the motor? Use same trans K as the 318? THX

Just dropped the engine in to find that I have interference between the oil pan and the steering tie bar. Do I need to replace the oil pan or can I adjust the height of the engine up or lower the bar somehow....any advise is welcomed. thanks
so its an aftermarket pan? Thanks for the pointers, the engine is a 440, engine removed was a 440. Stock motor mounts. the oil pan is the deeper option, most likely the cause of the interference. I will try to get photos. I am slow to reply because I am focused on getting this project done.....takes a ton of time.
post up some picsIt must be. I purchased the overhauled engine that is period correct, its a 1970 440.
I'm not sure what that pan is for, definitely an aftermarket one but yeah, I would swap it out. You'll need to find an oil pan like this one. Notice how yours has a tapered part that slopes down as it moves rearward, vs the flat style like the factory is?Hey you all, hope you are still watching this tread....I have some photos of the issue. Ive attempted to show the depth of the pan, it is shallower at the back and deepens as it moves forward. At about the 1/2 way point the steering bar rubs. I need to adjust this but not sure how. Do I need to replace the pan? thanks for your input.
