hello working on a 68 Roadrunner switching from manual to power steering:got a box and pump from 70 Challenger that was in good shape ,I have the steering box mounted and power steering pump had to pull the column to switch out the shaft to the shorter one ;got it built back up having trouble with the coulpler that hooks to steering shaft the one the roll pin goes in ;any tricks to getting this back on ,woundering if I should have left coupler on steering box and then slid the shoes on ?Any ideas thanks

It's a bear to get on, but it'll go. Make sure the threads are clean and that there aren't any burs on it.

Is someone else holding/pushing the column from inside the car, and someone else lining it up on the coupler?

Ya I’ll clean it up I even put a little grease on it ,thanks thought I might have to load coupler on car that looked harden

Manual coupler and power coupler are different. Did you try coupler before you put it on shorter shaft?

No I didn’t ,I used the coupler that came with short shaft ;diidnt try on power box I’ll give it another go tonight thanks

I've had couplers that have an index groove that has to match up to the index groove at the box. I usually use a marker on each spline where the index is to help installation.
