EarthQuake in So -CAl.

Just had a shaker going, 5.4.

Of course my biggest worry is my RR...:praying:

It was initially billed as a 7.1 they just knocked it down a little to 6.9. Either way it was a BIG one!

Not that I wish anything but the best for you all out there and that you stay safe but these just are not big enough.

That area is getting hit with 2.0+ quakes about every 10-15 minutes over the last few days.

The 6.9 was definitely longer in duration than the initial large quake.

I'm in the valley and I can feel small quakes rolling through on and off the last couple of days. Frames were bouncing off my walls tonight.

The Northridge quake wasn't the One, so now it's just wait and see...

The Northridge quake by comparison was only 6.7 but in LA. That one caused many billions $$ in damage. Fortunately this one was more in the desert. They say it shouldn’t activate the San Andreas Fault. Huge quake.....

It was reported there were 1700 aftershocks since the quake yesterday.

A friend of mine in Ridgecrest and I had just gotten off the phone this evening when I had heard of the second bigger quake tonight.

I quickly called him back.
He said "Mike we just had a bigger one, and I'm getting nervous". He was supposed to be putting a new motor in his 64 Rancherrio, but found out he did not have all of the motor mount parts to do it. He was pretty mad about it. I told him maybe it was a good thing that you were not quite ready to do the install.

I told him I could just see his motor hanging from the cherry picker, swaying back and forth beating up his inner fender panels or maybe worse and hurting him.

It was a blessing, because the next one just hit. He is a lot like me, working late into the night trying to finish and engine install.

I hope your friend is okay as well as his family. Ridgecrest is right in the heart of the epicenter. Also hope no or little property damage.

Messy post - bottom line is I hope your buddy and his family are okay. He lives right in the epicenter of the quake. Cal Tech is saying there’s a pretty good chance of more 6-7 quakes.

They are saying that the first one on the 4th is a confirmed foreshock of the one last night. And, that there may be an even bigger one coming if the pressure doesn't move on to Oklahoma..... here's some science...

A lot of fault line to get to Oklahoma and a mountain range. Could even trigger some volcanic activity.

I hope all our SoCal members are safe...
same area 11 miles NE of Ridgecrest

6.9 to 7.1 magnitude on the Richter scale is no joke,
even for out here
I saw on the news a few fires from broken gas pipes
a few roads fucked up from crossing or near the faults too
a few old building damaged etc.

A bunch of Liquor stores :poke: got the worst of it :carrot: (sorry)

a whole bunch of aftershocks too

@super-bee_ski is really close

This is in the GD form so will refrain from other. Just be safe out there and don't run off doing stupid stuff.

Drove the Road to Trona, and through Trona after MATS 2018. Looked like a Twilight Zone Episode or the Day the Earth Stood Still.
