I know the guy ruffled some feathers but I personally think that he had skills far beyond most car guys. His pursuit of excellence was amazing.
A thread on Moparts was just started, a member saw on Facebook that Dave had passed on due to the advanced cancer. I thought I recalled hearing that he had developed Brain Cancer but since it is such scary subject, I did not look into it further.
RIP, Sir. I enjoyed your contributions to this great hobby.

Wow, that is so sad. Its true his 4 door cuda did not go down well, but he had a phenominal eye for detail. In the dealings I had with him, he was a straight up guy. RIP Dave.

I've known about David's fight since the Winter. He not only paid to have my OE 383 exhaust picked up by Fedx (across the border), he had Steve make a jig for it, fabricate me a complete new exhaust and shipped it and my OE back at no charge. Concerns for Steve, Tom and the crew and what / how ECS will carry on.

Having a Daughter that went from a pelvic bone Sarcoma to secondary brain cancer..... a lot of David's confrontation makes a LOT of sense to me and I can only hope that people will remember him for what he did for the hobby, and not the "arguments" he had with people while supporting his logic!

Sad to hear. He did such a great job with his white Challenger

What a shame, his fabrication skills were unparalleled. I had some pleasant PMs with him. I only hope he didn't suffer too badly.
R.I.P.

He wasn't that old? Sorry to hear. God, we need a cure for cancer.

R.I.P. Dave :(

Definitely an individual who made some serious contributions to the hobby we all love and share.

it was only a few weeks ago when i was sorting my older license plates and found a vintage set of new york plates ECS=2474 and set them aside.
i was going to see if he wanted them for one of his rides...kind of an olive branch.
May he Be with God now.

I met Dave at Carlisle 2017 where we were both displaying in the building. We talked for quite awhile about things[all sorts]. I had no issues with him. He was an alpha-male, so we should have bumped heads....but I took the high road, and found him interesting. God-Speed Dave.

While I did have an online beef with him about the story of his 4-door Cuda, I always said that his restoration work was second to no none. RIP

Wow I was just conversing with him a few months ago for the VIN decals for the Duster. That sucks

Dave was a true talent and an assest to our small niche of a restoration community.......

Several years ago me and Dave made amends and became friends. I am so glad I made that step....Since then I really enjoyed our phone conversations in relation to originality.......He has a wonderful Son and daughter and I hope they can carry on his legacy and the acquired talent........

Dave restored IMHO the most original and accurate examples of cars that rolled out of the factory. His Hemi Cuda, challenger and dart are masterpieces.....The Fords, Chevies he has done are at the same level......

Talent like that cannot be replaced but he set the bar high for others to learn from and try to achieve....

So Dave thank you my brother for everything you provided for us to benefit from! I am proud to have some of your parts on my cars!

My condolences to the family and rest in piece my friend!

Justin

Dave and I have been friends for many years probably starting back to when he was restoring the white challenger as I was working on Mom's 70 challenger convertible at the time. I had talked to him many, many times where it became almost a daily call between either him calling me or me calling him about various things. I was fortunate enough to have met him and his wife Cindy two years ago out at Carlisle when he had the 4 door out there. Shortly after that is when he told me that he found out he was sick. While I had never met him up till that point, he felt like a brother that I never had.

Dave's passion for cars was second to only his love for his family and friends. As we all know, Dave wouldn't make anything that wasn't EXACTLY as the factory would have done it or it would have been tossed in the garbage. His attention to detail was exquisite. Who else would have thought to go through and index every nut and bolt on a car just to put it back exactly as it would have been built. Its that attention to detail that made me want to push myself to "better" my cars that I did. He made a huge impact on the hobby with producing some of the finest things that have ever been made or even thought of. The world lost a great person, innovator, car enthusiast, friend, and family member. Rest In Peace my friend !
