Notice the small flange on the new quarter panel where it meets the rocker panel. Should that be there or is that a left over from the panel stamping?

Well if you put a straightedge along the rocker you'll figure it out quick enough. That joint does not get filler, just seam sealer.

actually.... it's a lead joint..... usually have to dig in and do a little patch work before laying the quarter over..... i never seen that little flange before, it'll probably hold the quarter too far away

seems like they smear the lead (I use allmetal or epoxy of some sort) over the joint but I notice they don't get the underside, leaving a visible overlap

Yes it is a leaded seam. I was going to do the straight edge test, but haven't got that far yet.

no need to get nuts or overthink it ........ the finished product is a "blend" from quarter to rocker...... they could have used bondo, but used lead instead....... the welds hold it together, the lead just hides the seam

see my edited post above, they didnt hide the seam on the under side

If you put polyester body filler or epoxy on that joint it will not hold. It has to be Leaded for strength and
flexibility. The factory engineers wouldn't go to all that trouble if they didn't need to!

I've done several with no known issues...... the factory uses a handful of spot welds; by the time the underneath metal is repaired and everything is welded "Solid" in each layer, I doubt it's going anywhere

I stand corrected ... lead it is - I should have known, I took the lead out of mine to do the quarters !!
