N96 Air Filter Replacement

Do you need an orange reproduction?.......

I have the same filter in black made by Fram in the 80'S pn CA332......I may have an orange reproduction as well...

PM if interested...

Did anyone purchase one of these for an N96 ramcharger / air grabber car? I'm noticing that the K&N filter I had on there was 2 inches in height and the one that I got from classic industries which appears to be the same one as this mancini one is 2 1/4 inches so the threaded studs aren't quite tall enough to grab onto with the wing nut.

I bought one from mancini racingr. I had to press down on the top cover to get the wing nuts on.

How correct do you want or need. Year One's is about as close as it gets right now.. and I have a few to compare it with..

Thanks @dadsbee! Hopefully it's closer to 2" so I don't have to come up with something creative. I also want to make sure I don't push that lid up too much so I have fitment issues on my beautifully restored ramcharger setup. :)

Appreciate you taking a look.

Sorry got busy and forgot about this. Pulled it out yesterday, along with some old crusty OE's. OE's that are dried out and tightened down for 40+ years are right on 2 inches. The new Year One repro is 2 3/16" and quite soft, so it should easily squash down. I've had every rendition on mine and have had no issues wing nutting the lid on.

Thanks! I'll go ahead and get one from yearone on order and send my classic industries one back.

Hello, I have 69 Bee, 383 Ram charger n96, how long should the threaded studs be? I can not get a 2" oval, orange filter to fit. I can get a 1 1/2" oval filter to fit. I will not have clearance between top of lid and hood using a 2" filter. Would changing to a 440 cleaner base make a difference? Thanks for any and all help/

Then you are not running a stock manifold, or something is seriously wrong. I've never seen a 1.5" thick oval filter either. A 440 base is about 3/8" shorter on the neck, or you could just cut the one you have down.

Stock size manifold, the biggest problem is when I install a 2" filter, Fram CA332, the threaded posts are not long enough to install lid without bending the lid.

You said you would not have enough clearance between the lid and the hood if you used a 2" filter and why I said you have an issue then as there is no reason not to with a stock manifold on a 383, or 440 for that matter.

As for the posts, then they aren't OE, the bracket they are on is bent down or someone shortened the studs.

Stock / OE with a correct filter.

Thanks for your help. I'll double check the studs. Stay safe and stay well.
