Many know of the ZZ1 Citron Gold dilemma. In 66 it was greenish gold -- in 67 it was more gold. But, when you order ZZ1 today it appears as the 1967 color. It took our painter seven mixes to match the existing original paint in the door jams and under the trunk lid. Here's the result. Note, it looks so much different in sunlight -- it becomes more gold.

Car looks beautiful! Love the color...

I think you have a color that flip flops from day to night.....in the pictures it looks greenish gold to me...

It's the 60's version of Curious Yellow, looks yellow in the sun, lime green at night.

Really like yours!
I just painted mine , Kukana Yellow, (Audi/Vw) color which the sample looked gold...but at certain angles it has a greenish hue to it. It's growing on me.

short answer- yes!

OP's car looks correct to my eye.

Looks great, Gold and Silver, both will chase light and flip.
Nice.

My Dad had a 66' polara 500 in that color, we always called it a greenish gold.

It looks great to me buddy. Mine is the same color (but not as good a paint job). When I bought it all my family hated the color, now they all love it!

Gentlemen,
Thank you for this discussion. I own a 1966 Dodge Coronet and I am detailing the car right now. By polishing the car in ZZ1, I see a black substance on the polishing tool. No I asume, that the Citron Gold 1966 is a metallic paint. Can you confirm this? If this is the case how did Chrysler paint the cars in 1966? Was it a single layer metallic paint job or did they do multiple layers? My main question is: Is ZZ1 Citron Gold metallic or not? Thank You! I appreciate every little hint and help! Volker

Citron is both. For 60's poly enamel the came up with some cool colors. You would swear it had pearl or flip-flop in it. My 66 Dart is supposed to be the same color.

Yes it has fine metallic in it.

I have put off painting my 66 Dart for 15 years now. I still can't decide if I really like the color enough to put thousands into a paint job. The restored cars are pretty cool though. Here is Fishypete's Barracuda from FABO. It's a beauty.

Oh by the way, ZZ1 for Dodge is "Gold Poly " "Citron Gold Poly" is Plymouth's name for the ZZ1 code and Chrysler was "Spice Gold Poly"

I have a Poly Gold ZZ1 66 and it always has a green look to it It is more green than the Citron Gold but in bright sunlite you can see the gold. I had the local vocational school auto shop paint it back in 2005 so it is a 20 footer. It still gets looks and has won some trophies. It has done 8 Power tours and we love it and I don't go crazy if it gets a stone chip or scratch.

Gentlemen!
thank you so much for this information. Thank you @toolmanmike. Now I am sure and it is definitely the color of Alberts Coronet or of Maxrats Coronet. So if I go to my local paintshop here in Germany and I tell them that I need a 1966 Dodge ZZ1 clour, they won´t understand. I checked different pages to find out which color code it is today. So I can show up at my local paint shop and can tell them what I want. @Maxrat: The only thing I found is e.g. 1966 is ZZ1 is 22511 Dupont. Is this correct? Or which manufacturer specification can I give to my local paint shop? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you again! Volker
