So I just ordered an electric pusher fan to supplement the mechanical fan I have on my stroker motor. Where is the best location to install the temp sensor for the fan? I already have a temp gauge sensor coming out of the intake manifold. Is there a "T" fitting that can be used there to hold both sensors? If so, anyone have a part #. Or is there a better place to mount the sensor for the fan? 440 block stroked to 493. 6bbl carbs/manifold. Edelbrock aluminum heads.

The water pump housing on my 383 had an extra pipe plug near the heater hoses.
But it's a 66, no I don't think you want to use a Tee it needs to be in the flow of the coolant.
I think you can get an adapter for the thermostat housing that has a port for a temperature switch or probe.

I did two 440 engines and put them in the plug hole near the heater hoses as Don suggests.
Both working well.

The amazing thing was that the pipe plug came right out. 50 years old in coolant.

Let me correct a statement, after looking at pics of my motor, the current temp gauge sensor is coming out of the plug by the heater hoses (not the intake as I stated in my original post). Is there another plug I should look for?

The old 1/8 th temp sensor hole for the factory temperature gauge may still be there?
I do not know of any others factory threaded you could use.

I would assume most people running electric fans are also running a temp gauge. How/where are the individual sending units located? Or can both be run off one sending unit? I would not think that would be the case since the sending units may not be calibrated to work the same.

The factory gauge temp sender on my car is behind the alternator bracket below the heater hoses in your pic locating your aftermarket gauge.
The senders are not compatible you need one for a gauge and one to turn on the fan.
There are many aftermarket ways to fit the fan operating sensor. Have a look at Summit Racing.

Behind the mounting bracket for the alternator is another plug facing forward, there is a round hole in the bracket and the plug is right behind that hole.
IIRC that is a 1/4" NPT hole, you could add a sensor there for controlling the fan.
Installing a Tee or so does not work as there is no flow and the sensor will read a lower temperature then there really is.

If you need more sensors you could drill and tap a hole in the pump housing on the top, driver side.
Just need to remove the housing and select a good spot for it to install and make sure no filings etc. end up in the cooling system...radiators don't like metal parts rattling inside chewing away the soft brass or aluminium.

If you use the dakota digital fan controller, you can use the stock sending unit.

A toggle switch will also work as I expect you are monitoring the temp gauge all the time!
