Newbie here. One of my Hemi's heat tubes has rotted through. I have a new set of tubes but it appears from both underhood and undercarriage that I need to drop the K member/engine to change these out. Has anyone on the forum successfully swapped heat tubes with the motor still in the car? If yes, any tips? Thanks in advance.

I never used them on my car. Had an intake where someone drilled inside one holes, vacuum leak. It only took me a minute to get a bolt in. I'd remove carbs and stuff you break on top engine. Lay on top of engine to get at bolts. A one of a set of original tube was flatten on the back side. I never ran them, car takes 10 mins to warm up.

Thanks Fran. The car is almost 100% correct so I am inclined to attempt to keep the tubes. With all of the effort we make to keep the air/fuel cool its ironic that Mopar pipes hot air under the intake manifold.

You can replace them without dropping the K frame. The tube from the exhaust manifold to intake should bolt right up. The tube from the H pipe is a bear, start by loosening the H pipe from the manifolds, remove the old tube cut if needed. from the top side slide the tube into place and start the mounting bolts but do not tighten the bolts work the tube into the H pipe and tighten the H pipe carefully. tight the tube to intake bolts next an the heat tube clamp last.

Excellent, just what I was looking for, thank you. I did get all the fasteners loose (PB Blaster) so that is a start. Will loosen/drop the H-pipes and go to work on that slip fit then follow your reassembly pattern.

I completed the project today and as you indicated the tubes did R&R from the topside. One note for others; make sure you do not slip the lower pipe over the H-pipe nipple until the top tube has been installed into place otherwise it will not slip between the block and the firewall. Said differently, set the lower pipe in position but leave it loose.
