Don selleck's 68 charger rt project

I can't wait to see your video and hear what your car sounds like.
I had to create a YouTube account and load my videos from there to get them to load and play.

will try to do that soon got alot on my plate for the next few days, grandson coming over today, doing some work in the yard till it gets too hot and then show him how to drop the center link and remove the oil pan in prep for the new gasket. he is 15 now, and smart as a whip, hmmm, i'm sure he can set up the youtube account with ease, so maybe we can trade some knowledge.

Congratulations on getting it running!

I like the idea of trading some knowledge with your grandson. He'll be able to set up an account for you and get it uploaded faster than you can imagine, I'm sure!

success! that was after initial break in, after cooldown for several hours, quick start up and acceleration seems to be the benefit of it for now, they say it needs to be driven for an hour or two so the computer can learn. I'm a little ways away from that now.Just removed the leaky oil pan, no metal shavings oil seems good still, waiting for gasket and compression gauge to finish, grandson got an education this morning and so did i.

thanks, hearing that engine run makes all the work worth it, and spending time sharing and learning from each other with my grandson, the icing on the cake!

Sounds great! I love that borla exhaust sound. Sounds nice and throatie and I know that the video's never do it justice. Fun to have it back to life.

Looking great Don! Love the car and its progress!

Sweet, great car, sounds awesome. My friend put a fitech on his nova s couple years ago. Asked if I could help him with it. All was fairly straight forward but the info on saving changes was buried in an odd place in the directions.

thanks alot, appreciate your comments, havent forgot about the vacumn pump routing ended up not removing it yet but will soon to do a quick clean from the power steering leak, and glad i put it in there looks like I will need it to keep the power brake working in traffic or slow idles.

thank-you, yes the directions were a little confusing something lost in translation or something ended up going on line and fining more info on the control unit that did not come with the unit. gilmore museum mopar show is next saturday, the 27th, looks like i will be attending (not with my car yet not quite road worthy yet), not far from lansing, Justin (mopar nation) and sorry can't find his name the guy with the superbee will be there. 400 mopars should be interesting.

Don, you have an awesome car and are in the home stretch. I'm sure you'll have some issues to work through (I certainly did), but this is, in my opinion, the culmination of a careful, well thought out project. Congratulations on this milestone and WELL DONE!

Yes the Mopar show at Gilmore is great. I have to get ahold of my friends to see if they are going. Last year they had talked about going to the Capital City car show this year instead. Even if I do go, I don't know if I should drive my Coronet that far yet. No miles on it yet, just getting it on the road. and yeah that Superbee is awesome, I think his name is Jim?

yes,I don't think i couldn't have tried much harder but sure can improve when the next project comes around, experience is the key to anything, I have been working on these cars most of my life, but nothing to this extent. I learned an enormous amount of info doing this project with endless hours of research, alot credited to FBBO members for there help posting there experiences, and parts bought and given to me. thanks!

Should be all set on the routing. So I ended up using the vacuum canister from the headlights to supply vacuum to the brakes. I sent the supply hose to the extra nipple on the booster and that was enough to use the stored vacuum in the canister to assist in braking. Works great! My headlight doors don't work currently, so figured I'd use the can for that. If/when I fix the doors, I will add a T in the routing to supply the headlight canisters as well. Should work fine as the headlights aren't used much, if at all, and it won't draw a ton of vacuum for the pods once they are up or down.

well further tuning of fiech 3x2, immediate start up, great. idle seemed to be varing a bit, initial fuel prime for start up was spray quite a bit of fuel actually lifting about throttle bodies about 2 feet with a light mist. Almost seems like a vacumn leak checked all area of intake throttle body etc. with carb cleaner no changes my oldest son stopped by and noticed that each throttle body had a plug in the top between the air intakes except for the middle one which did not and had an open hole i put my finger over it and idle changed and smoothed out. sucked my finger and imediatley created a suction ring on the end of my finger. went on line and searched for people with the 3x2 system found one and all three throttle bodies had plugs in them, which I assumed, so here we go, contacted norm last night at affordable fuel injection asking his opinion and assuming we will be contacting fitech early next week. **** happens we will see how good customer service is, haven't heard anything bad except hard to get a hold of, but norm deals with them all the time so shouldn't be an issue. second pic is the one i found online that someone purchased.

you can see opposite threaded hole for air cleaner stud the solid plug in hole on all three throttle bodies. oh well weeding out the issues! pressing on.

Don,

My fuel injection was a bit of a PITA to get worked out. So expect some challenges. However, once you get it worked out they are awesome. Keep on working through it - you'll get it!

yes ,thanks for the bit of confidence, thats pretty much what these cars are about, that is the challenge. getting back at it tomorrow after work. taking the weekend to get caught up on other stuff. came in from out side to excape the humidity. big storms last night, broke the heat wave here, just need some wind to dry things up a bit.
